Hand pump help

Is it worth it to spend more money on an expensive hand pump? Is there a major difference between a more expensive one and a cheaper one?

I always bought the cheap china ones. Work really well and the most you have to do to keep them going is lubrication once in awhile and changing some orings from time to time.

I bought the top of the line Gamo hand pump when I got my Urban .22, followed by a Hill Mk. 5, which was supposed to be more efficient. Both worked fine, but I found myself spending most of my time pumping after I bought my second PCP. Finally got a small electric pump and haven't looked back. Will keep one of the hand pumps, but would have been smarter to have gotten the electric pump first. Good luck!

Cheap pumps will last longer than the expensive Hill versions. My Hill rusted in no time vs my China pump that shows no signs of rust no matter how much condensation builds up in it. Also easier to maintain than the Hill. I don't mind exercise so I stick with the hand pump.

When I was only filling to ~3K psi (Gamo), the hand pumps were fine. When I started filling one to ~4K (Avenge-X), the time and effort with a hand pump increased significantly. In my experience, pumping from 3K to 4K took much more time and effort than pumping from 2K to 3K. If you'll only be filling to a 3K max, hand pumps should be fine.

I have a real expesive one in the closet. I have no need to spend that much energy Get yourself a little black box compressor and save the hand pump for when world war 5 happens and there is no electrical power
