Does anyone have any experience in making pellets at home or is the juice not worth the squeeze?

I melted a lot of lead for marine related fishing and diving. A Lee or equivalent production pot would do the job nice. There is a lot of clean up involved with smaller items, if I owned a big bore I'd definatly do it. Real lead is different weight wise and hardness as compared to tire weights found at most tire stores

Do you mean Swaging or Casting of pellets / bullets? I cast projectiles for .25, .257, .357 and .457 airguns. I buy Swaged pellets from JSB and others. There are tools available to swage your own pellets too which is a cold working process rather than one involving molten lead.

There is a device for sale that lets you swage lead wire into pellets, but it is a slow tedious process.

Don't buy the nomad die set from the UK , reason!!!, cost to much for what it is. Hard to use , does not work well, pellets shoot bad from all my air guns , In the long run pay for one made here to use in a press. I wrote it off as a bad choice on my part. Some one should bring back the old Herters press and dies, I have both them and Corbin dies for pistol bullets and they work great, Herters out of business , Corbin too costly. Also C&H made a set like Herters but worked in any loading press, Don't know if C&H is still alive.

Thanks for your responses. The nomad is the only one I have been able to find available (and one guy in China who has what looks like a home-made swage). Sounds like there is either no real demand from air-gunners...or there is a great entrepreneurial opportunity for someone!

Have had the Nomad Pellet maker for a while now.. Must have made about 150 pellets with it and tried everything possible to make them shoot accurate out of my rifles.. The best 5 shot group i managed were an inch at 15 yards.. Its a fun project to work on if you have the time and the patience but i'm sure i wont be using them for any serious shooting...
