HAM slug BC's

Yupp, very cool of HardAir Magazine to test and share their results!

And I'm interested to get some more info on what they did and how they did it....

For example, I thought that they used the Impact at a fixed power setting, no matter what projectile.

And in the past tests that power setting produced in .22cal around 30FPE. However, I see these slugs being slung with 36 to almost 40FPE, even the light weight 17.5-grainer goes out with 33.5FPE. And I thought that the slugs -- because of their large bearing surface with the barrel -- are getting less muzzle energy when compared to pellets of the same weight at the same power setting....

The analysis (cf. chart below) that the BC rises more or less linerly with increased weight is an interesting observation.

The database has is a great start and complements the pellet BC database. My one question for slugs in .22 caliber is why were they tested at such low speeds? Most shooters that are shooting slugs long range are shooting them at 950 FPS and upwards. The BCs could be substantially different at 100 FPS and more from the current test speeds.
