Had to look hard for this one…

I’ve been going out looking for rabbits in the morning around my place-I see a few, usually as they scoot away to parts unknown! It’s been cold (for us Californians) with temps in the 30s in the am and the bunnies seem to be so tight in the brush they’re hard to spot till they spook & disappear. One useful method is to look into the sunlit side of the brush. When the light hits an ear, they glow a reddish brown like a dead leaf. If the leaf twitches, you’ve just spotted one! I talked this bunny into posing to illustrate.

Here’s the willow thicket he came out of (with a little persuasion from my Marauder

Big arrow shows where he was, small arrow shows a backlit leaf.

And a group photo. Our little brush rabbits are tiny compared to the Eastern Cottontails, but still tasty game.
Happy Holidays and safe shooting to all,
John
