Had a new to airguns shooter over today ,

A friend of ours who used to shoot ROTC then just hunting PB's called yesterday asking if I "still" ( haha) had airguns and could he stop by and try one or just talk. He had helped us move a couple of years ago and saw the Career 707II .25 and slightly listened to me about what a 90fpe airgun could do, he held it said "that's heavy" and set it down. Recently he attend the National NRA meeting in Nashville, stopped at the nearest gun show on his way home and run into a Farmer from MO(?) who he spoke with at length about the .458's and .50's the fellow had for sale, said he was THE nicest guy, and did remember me saying everyone I shoot FT ( and other ) with were all really nice.
He really wanted to buy one but know he just didn't really know what he was looking at, suba gear/pump ...... .
So he stopped by and I gave him the lowdown on the DAQ rifles and all that goes with them, needed gear -still sounded a put off to him- groups, fun, ..... Then he carried out the Marauder .22 for me ( I cant lift anything) the QB78 HPA w/ninja tank, HM1000 .22 and a 909 .45, all but one needing to be sold sometime in the near future.
He tried the least costly the QB first, WOW that trigger is light! Tammy's Aeon 10-40x was on it and he very mush liked the scope. Better than any BP scope he had. He managed to hit 1/4" stickers at 25 yards every shot except one touched off too soon ( but pointed safely down range). The he tried the HM1000 , LIKED that, "best trigger ever used", man that's quite , ... , .... . With a lowly walmart 16x leaper on it he managed to just barely ( 1/2 a pellet mark) hit the small chicken in the head 24 shots straigt, learned to load the clip, learned to fill from a scuba tank ( meant to let he try the hand pump on one but ran out of time ) holdover with mil-dot's ...... must have fired 60 shots ( 5 full clip) through that one and LOVED it. As time was short he grabbed the 909 ( which is still stock though it will be a 250fpe rig when I sell it) which he agreed had THE heaviest trigger he had ever even heard of. but with 2 457 round balls the first shot did flip 2 think sheets of stainless with a 1/4" hard steel piece behind it. Reset that fired 5 more single balls, refilled, repeat.
He will now be getting an airgun! He is currently cartakinga house with Gardens and TOO many rabbits so Tammys sent him hone with a crosman Nitro piston .22 and some pellets. He is going to think for a couple of weeks about his options and needs then come back and bounce ideas off us, and likely shoot some more esp. at 100 yards.
His favorite the HM1000 .22

And the MAN I cant believe how load that is for an airgun 909 lighthunter

And just to show everyone what a REALLY low quality video looks like

Living just outside a town of 360 people with the BIG city of 3,600 nearby for shopping EVERYONE knows I have airguns , and that, interesting but. But just this year 2 folks have taken the time to drive up, shot and instantly said "man I get it now.

A very fun day.

Yes it was the good nature of airgunners that got him interested as much or more than anything else, naturally AFTER he shot a few he was hooked. He doesn't have an airgun yet ( except the crosman Tammy lent him) but he will. He did know I shoot little metal targets in the woods and he remembered I had said everyone is really nice, but he was just really impressed at how friendly Mr Quackenbush was even though he had said he didn't need an airgun. That got him thinking just maybe there was something to what I had said about everyone at the GOB club being so friendly and in todays world it can be hard to find groups of welcoming nice people. He wont have an airgun before the next match but plan's on going ( and he is picking me up on the way!) but I'll take the QB for him to shoot and I am certain it will be a nice day. I'll be sure to post a lot of pictures from the shoot.
