Well, it's back to school in a bit over a week here, so I decided to take my two oldest boys on a spontaneous 4 hour journey looking for prairie dogs.
We simply grabbed our guns, said our prayers and jumped in the truck. No contacts, no nothing. Just information that there were prairie dogs 4 hours west of us.... somewhere.
Long story short, almost immediately upon arriving at the general are where we suspected we might find dogs, we met a fellow whose uncle had 100s of them all over his ranch. He invited us in with great enthusiasm. Was super impressed with our pellet guns!
We shot about 12 or so in about an hour's time when all of a sudden the wind started blowing quite briskly.
Oh well. We will pack the powder burners next time for the farther out ones...
Had an absolute blast! Was an awesome time bonding with my boys and enjoying the great outdoors!
My 10 year old impressed me tremendously whacking them as far out as 100 yards with just Kentucky Holdover. "Just watch where the pellet hits on the ground and adjust the next shot so it whacks the dog in the next shot.
He caught on immediately. The smile on his face on his 98 yard shot was totally priceless! I declare he was still glowing 2 hours later!
Here's a few photos.
Guns are the impact .25 shooting 34 grain pellets at 905 and edgun r3m shooting .22 pellets at 930 fps
Both total tack drivers!
Of course we had to regain our strength with fine dining at a Chinese buffet later on....
