Anybody have good luck with JSB's in .177? in your Weihrauch"s

I have tried several times to get the>177 JSB's in Exact, Exact Express, Exact RS, to shoot in any of the 4 Weirauch's I have. I have tried two head sizes, 4.51 and 4.52. I swear the 4.52's are more loose in the breech then the 4.51's. Good velocities, but really poor groups.

H&N FTT's and Baracuda FT's in 4.50 fit perfectly in the breech and shoot amazingly well.

I feel like it's a waste of money to order more JSB's for my Weihrauch rifles.

Sorry for the rant, just hate to throw money away on pellets that don't give me good lovin' ;-)

I have more consistent fit and results from 177 H&N FTT than any of the JSBs. Sometimes the JSBs shoot better than the FTTs sometimes they shoot worse. The FTTs shoot well in all my Weihrauchs. They typically produce less energy than JSBs of similar weights (8.44 gr)

My Hw30s usually do best with JSB made AA 7.33s with the JSB equivalent a close second.

Rebranded JSBs are available from Air Arms and FX. These typically are more consistently sized than their JSB equivalents.

I use either JSB 8.44s or FTTs 8.64 in the rest of my other 177 Weihrauchs. I feel these are a good weight for the 12-15 fpe Weihrauchs.

The 7.87 JSB Express would be a good weight as well. For some reason these seem to run small. I accidentally dry fired a brand new Hw50 twice when these pellets fell out of the breech while closing the rifle. That blew out the seal and ruined the gun while I was on vacation and couldn't fix it. Also for some unknown reason the 7.87s are typically more expensive than the other sizes so I don't usually buy them.

I use a lot JSBs I usually buy them ten tins at a time. Once in a while I'll get ten great tins that all my guns will shoot well. Once in a while I'll get ten mediocre tins and I have to pray that I can find a rifle that likes them. Usually I can.

I can't figure out the logic of FTT sizing. Sometimes the labeled smaller head sizes fit tighter than the larger ones. It's like the sizer is on crack. That said I have no problem ordering twenty plus tins of the FTTs. They always shoot well enough and consistent throughout the batch.

I have more confidence in the overall performance of the FTTs than I do any of the JSBs.

RWS also makes some quality pellets as well. Their Meisterkugeln wadcutters work well in lower powered Weihrauchs. I wish they'd produce a better domed pellet for the higher powered rifles.

This is my experience. Ymmv

I also recommend the H&N Field Target Trophy .177 452 and .22 553 head sizes for Weihrauch rifles. Very consistent results. Buy 10 tins at a time, you will shoot them.

JSB's seem to be hit or miss, even for plinking out of Weihrauch rifles.

The TX200 seems to like the JSB 8.44's over the H&N 8.64's. Glad something other than my Daystate likes the JSB pellets, I have an ammo can full of them.

We shoot the .177 AA 7.33 with 4.52 head size in Kim’s HW30 and they’re excellent. That’s actually the only .177 Weihrauch we have. Both my Diana .177 hate the JSB pellets in any head size. Way too loose, will actually fall out like Mycapt said. H&N FTT and Baracuda Match in those.Saw someone post that it was less about the head size than the hardness of the alloy, but no idea if that’s true. RWS Meisterkugeln pellets are very good as well, we shoot those in a few guns.

The HW80 I just purchased really likes the H&N Baruacuda FT's . I bought them in 4.50 head size.

My first .177 was the HW35E and I ordered some FTT's from AoA. They didn't have the head size listed, so I just got what they sent. They were 4.50's and they fit so well in all of the other guns, I just have stayed with that size. I figure if it's working why take a chance on the other sizes.
