H&N slugs

Here are a few details on the sample slugs that H&N have produced. I don’t know if these are the same as they are planning to mass produce and they may well be waiting on some feedback as to how these work. There are 5 different weights in the sample pack. 21 23 25 25 and 30g. They seem well made and uniform.

The only slugs I have to compare them to are the NSA slugs. The H&N aren’t bad but NSA to me look like a better made slug. The lead the H&N slugs are made of is much softer than there pellets and early slug offerings.

The rear of the slugs are concave and I measured 1mm in depth. This is the same for all weights.

There are 30 of each weight. I have washed them and did notice an amount of lead particles when I’d finished. Normal really.

At this stage I’ve only shot the 30g slugs. Shot at 940fps out of my RedWolf (maxed out!) with a 600mm FX slug liner. I only shot 10 of them. This was at 100y and the group was around the inch maybe a little more. I didn’t measure it. I’m keen to shot the others and see how they go. As soon as I get the weather to do them justice and some time I will and post results here.

It’s taken a while but some more information on the H&N slugs . So I have some groups I shot tonight. Conditions weren’t perfect. It was breezy and I was shooting at dusk and running out of light. The groups are the 25g slugs shot through my RedWolf with a FX smoothX slug liner. Distance was 82m.

I was really happy with the results. I shot 3 groups of 5 and they were very consistent. I know in past testing the dish base slugs haven’t performed as well as the flat base but I don’t think it’s a issue with these H&N slugs. The accuracy seems to be there

The top group was shot at about 930fps and the bottom a bit quicker at around 950fps. Being here in Australia the H&N slugs will be much easier for us to buy locally. At the moment the only way to get the NSA and other US made slugs is to do quite a bit of paper work and import them. It’s expensive and takes forever. I’m excited about these slugs potential and looking forward to doing some more testing Next chance I get I’ll use the LabRadar and get the bc info

Same for those of us South Africans who aren't Dubber or Air Hunters. We can buy them from importers but they're pricey enough that the current US slugs prices look like a giveaway in comparison 💩

A decent mass market slug will change everything, as long as too much corporate greed doesn't kick in!

Great results 👍🏻 thanks for posting

H&N slugs are the best I have used , tried a fair few and these work and cheaper than any other .. JSB are coming out with 21&23 gr slugs by the end of this year and may be a few more sizes.
Tried JSB.25 sluugs the other night and worked straight of , thought my impact didn’t like slugs after trying two uk slugs , pro hunter and wildman slugs , both utter crap and expensive
