H&N resurgence?

My experience with H&N has been that they're not quite as consistent as JSB. That's across various H&N varieties in .177 and .22. I will say though, that I have had two guns (HW77k and my Benji Discovery) that like the H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64gr better than anything else. I think those two particular barrels were slightly larger than optimal bore and the couple of sleeves of the FTTs that I've been working from for a few years seem to be oversized too. So, could be as simple as that.

In other guns that haven't been as pellet picky (ie guns that'll shoot multiple pellets well) the H&N always seem to have a couple more flyers per x numbers of shots than the same number of shots from JSB.

General recommendation of try every pellet you can in all your airguns seems to be at play here.

In the pellet testing that HardAir Magazine is doing, H&N pellets often come out with extremely good consistencies in weight and size.

And I like that they're not so prone to skirt bending and head dimpling....

And that they have a larger variety than JSB.

OK, they are made in Germany, like me, so I AM partial, full disclosure here. 😄

🔶 One day when my local govmt. locked us up for three months during corona round 1, I sat down and made a Czech vs. Germany comparison chart -- and discovered 2 curious gaps with JSB (charts needs just a couple of updates).

@jungleshooter, I've not ever done a weigh/sort comparison between JSB and H&N so I don't have any conclusive evidence there. My statement about H&N being less consistent/producing more flyers refers to actually shooting them. H&N have simply had more flyers per tin than JSBs, every time I've shot them. Perhaps I've gotten a bunch of bad batches? But this has been the case across the board, with at least 8 different flavors of H&N, across multiple tins.

In our local field target matches it is EXTREMELY rare to see somebody shooting H&N. In fact, I think I may have been the last guy to try it 3 or so years ago when I was shooting the HW77k that I mentioned above. FT shooters are, collectively, a group that flyers will piss straight off. Winning or losing by one shot makes even a couple more flyers per tin an infuriating situation.
