Your observation is normal from shipment to shipment and lot to lot. If you feel you need a more consistent pellet selection you will need to weight, size and sort your own pellets to your particular tunes. Or, shoot from the tin and accept what you get. The manufactures do the best they can and the rest is up to us. Just the way it is my friend.

Just my 2 cents....I’ve been finding a relatively consistent 1% variance when sorting a few different manufacturers and calibers, however most pellets are within 1/2% of the stated weight, measured 3x to 2 decimal places and then rounded up/down. (Ex. 19.58 would be rounded to 19.6) In regards to head size, try a pelletgauge instead of calipers. From my personal experience, you may get a different reading using calipers if you turn the pellet a few degrees. Others may disagree.

I remember around three or four years ago I was getting a lot of bad JSB pellets and it got to the point where I didn’t want to use that brand anymore. They just grouped horribly in all my guns. You could just look at them and see how poorly they were made. But now for the past couple years I haven’t had much problems with them. But I’ve Had pretty good luck with H&N So Far.I think it can happen to all brands from time to time.
