H&N .22 21gr catching on tramsfer port

My friend has a FX Dreamline. He bought some H&N slugs to try out. They are quite a bit shorter than the FX hybrids for a similar weight. That's not surprising as the volume of the hollow point is much less on the H&N. The 21gr only have around 2mm cylinder before the ogive curve starts, so they are tipping into the TP and getting damaged. Has anyone else seen this? and does the Huma TP with the bridge fix the problem? They are shooting very accurately when loaded with the rifle tipped on it's side.

The transfer port is stock. Rifle was probably made around May this year. It's not a problem with the magazine, as we get the same issue if the slug is hand loaded in to the breech. You can tell it is the TP as the slug loads smooth if the rifle is tipped on it's side when the lever is closed.

Ask your friend to pull out the entire barrel system. Show us a few pictures of the transfer port. That’ll help identify the problem. The .22 transfer port should be an circular shape. Does it do the same thing with pellets? Will they also clip the transfer port too?

The rifle has had no problem loading jsb 16gr and 18gr or FX Hybrid slugs. He might let me pull it apart 😃 but I suspect he will want to wait until his huma TP arrives.

I too have trouble with my stock .22 Crown Continuum and short slugs around 18.0 - 20.0 grains. They tilt into the transfer port and usually lock it up and won't come out until a bare end cleaning rod is pushed through the muzzle.

Frustrating as heck and not able to use any low grain slugs. My Crown Continuum was bought in late 2018.

I don’t think a lot of people have seen it yet, but the TP from the factory is not round anymore, it’s quite oval, probably 50 thou or so bigger,at least in 22 cal, just FYI

still, it shouldn’t have an issue?, I’ve pushed hundreds of 17.5-25 grn slugs through the new stock port no problem? The Huma as stated before would certainly cure this, but the results will vary on the advertised power improvement depending on tune.

Hi, have you tried the short H&N slugs? I ask because they have almost no cylindrical part, they are curved practically all the way to the back.
