I got a gxcs4i refurb from fleabay. Hopefully that dont bite me in the rear. When it arived it looked as new as new can get. It made dead head test to 300 bar in 27 seconds and has worked flawlessly since. I bought a dual temp sensor, led lights, and an hour meter. I wanted to do as little structural mod to the case. I did drill a half inch hole in the back for wire access then installed a rubber grommet. Blue temp for h2o tank red for compressor head. Wood frame a saddle and enough wire length to easilt remove and also a filter added

My recent mod to my CS4 was installing an extra fan. It's 24v out of a small welder that died, so not running full speed on compressor's 12v supply. But it's still pushing a decent air flow directly on piston cylinder. Had to cut extra slots with drimel to widen grill behind it.

that's so impressive to me. congratulations

I hope you don't mind what is likely a naive question.

may i ask, I looks up "dead head test"...if i understand it correctly it is a way to identify pressure loss in a closed system...at least i believe that's what it is generally used for.

what type of device do you need to purchase/employ to do this type of testing. i'm to receive an airgun compressor in the coming week, (not sure what type/make/model exactly as it is included in a package deal).

The GX air hoses come with these, but can also be found on Amazon. It's a male plug that goes into female quick connect, used to keep debris out and also dead head test. With it in, set your auto shut off (GX4 series says 300bar) then time the fill to shut off. Record that when compressor is new, then you can retest after x's hours of use for comparison to see if compression rate is slowing. Also good for leak testing.

All of my mods i made are completly reversable. The only thing I cant undue is the 1/2 inch hole in the back panel all electrical connections are factory with piggyback terminals. The most important mod is prolly a moisture filter. I wanted the gx filter but they were sold out so i reused on I had. Next is hour meter wired and not vibration then rhe dual temp guages one for head temp one for water temp

please.....can you describe your modifications....anything you're particularly pleased with....anything that perhaps you might have preferred to do differently?
Youtube videos are the key. Target forge has good how to videos thier install kits are a bit spendy but they have done all the wire harnes assembly and part sourcing. A bit of time on amazon and you can find everything

I think the mods I added are all necessary for monitoring compressor health ive only ran my compressor for a 10 min stretch so far so not sure if i need more cooling yet. Time will tell if I want to add more
