GX CS4-I shutting off

My CS4 has been great for the last year. But I have only been using it to fill guns. I recently acquired an SCBA tank and since I started filling the tank, the compressor will shut off. I don’t know if it is some kind of fault protection but when I try to press the start button again it won’t start. If I relieve all of the pressure allow the fan to run and cool it down and unplug it and let it sit for a few minutes and plug it back in everything works fine. I am usually running it for 30 to 45 minutes when topping off the SCBA. Also it won’t fill the bottle past 4200 psi. Fills tubes and bottles on guns to 4500 no problem but just can’t seem to get that number on the SCBA.

You might have an issue with the circuit board. I remember reading some time back that GX had issues with a specific lot of circuit boards and the symptoms, if memory serves, were similar to what you have described. Send Bill at TargetForge an email ( https://targetforge.net/contact-us ) or reach out to GX directly and find out what they can offer ( https://gxpumpofficial.com/pages/contact-us ).

If you have the QC tag with date... or take the cover off and get a photo of that board, I should be able to tell you if it's most likely the board.
Not sure if these are good enough or if I need to remove the board. I don’t know where I put the QC tag but I think I still have it somewhere

FWIW, you can still use the pump (as I did on my CS3) while you wait for response from GX.

Targetforge.net may be your closest and fastest resolution for parts.

My CS3 board fried when I put the pump on a lab power supply that was set over 14v.

To work around it, I simply jumpered the two wires on the bottom of the relay that connect the motor to the power supply. That did bypass the lights and start/ stop switches and the auto off feature ... But it kept my air supply secure while I waited for parts.

Poking around in the guts of things is not for everyone. You are the captain of your destiny .

Man, the GX line seems like the perfect fit for what I need and can afford, but after reading NUMEROUS threads about their products, the general vibe I get is that they’re rather dismissive and not very helpful when you have problems…
Mine had the same issue but they were very responsive. Shipped the new board very fast and now it’s working flawlessly…
