Yes, the GX compressors technically "separate" the air and water, but thru no marvel of modern technology. Here's a pic of the block that the air goes into, pressure is tapped off, as is output air to gun/tank, as well as the drain valve. There is no room inside for anything advanced, probably just a chamber for water to settle into as the air passes over it. I would imagine it's nothing more than a cavity where the air comes in at the middle, rises to the top (outlet to Foster), and the water drops (gravity) into the bottom of the cavity where the bleed screw allows it to open and blow downwards (as well as outwards around the threads of the bleed screw).
I filter as the air comes out, as well as bleed the air every 10-15 minutes while pumping.
