GX CS2 good for beginners?

Doing alittle searching, want to get my dad a compressor for early fathers day/birthday and he's mentioned wanting a compressor for his Mrod. He doesn't shoot all that much mainly pesting when we have the time. Based on some.poking around seems the GX CS lines of compressors are highly regarded and pretty easy to work on and get parts if need arises? Also filling one gun maybe 2-3 times a week at most sometimes not for awhile sound like it would be nothing for it? I might go a similar route myself also and get away from a tank as I don't shoot near as much as I used to and my tank just sits in the safe anyways don't take it with me anywhere. Plus it needs to be tested and don't feel like messing with that. Anyways are these a pretty easy compressor for the occasional filler?

The cs2 is a great beginner, and inexpensive compressor. I would also look at the cs3 just because of its water filtration and the autostop and other features.

Inside though, the compressor itself is identical to the cs2. Either one would be ideal vs the other stuff out there as these can be easy to maintain and parts are available

What air gun is he filling? If it doesn't have a large CF Tank or take a 300BAR fill, the CS2 should work just fine. Also, it's very compact and lightweight.

I have 2 GX Pump compressors and both have been very strong and trouble free. Target Forge is also an authorized dealer for parts, so if it does require maintenance, there is a local source for parts.

My last one, the L3, shipped via Amazon shipping and was to my door in 3 days. Unlike Amazon, GX Pump does not collect sale tax, so there is an additional savings over Amazon!

Sorry highjacking the thread, but I ordered GX pump E-L2 and saw it comes with proprietary battery. Are they compatible with Makita or Milwaukee charges?

Makita batteries work with them. GX also has a converter available for the E-L2 and E-L3 for home use.

So because of the sale, I decided to order my dad the CS3 for the filter and auto shut off and I ordered a CS2 as a backup/portable compressor for me.

I got the CS3 for my Dad and testing it seems to work really good. Still nothing on the CS2 I ordered. Been 2 weeks saying it's on its way to UPS. Sent an email 2 days ago and nothing. Will see what happens.

I just bought the GX4. I am a newbie and used it for the first time today. It worked well. The convenience of having an air source at home/mobile is priceless.

Dillon - the GX line are good basic compressors. Still Chinese made and will fail but seems to have better life expectancy than the generic ones.

Even with the inline filter I would still recommend some water removal on the high pressure side. It's a slower fill compressor so you can't go with a huge filter. I really like these:

and find I only need to change out the desiccant every 4-5 runs filling a 1.1L buddy bottle.

Been using mine for over a year and it’s been great. Just tore into a bit recently to lube it. Was a good idea as the top of the piston was flat out nasty with old grease as was the check valve in the bottom. Only took a few minutes to clean everything out and relube. Hopefully all will be good for awhile

Finally got the CS2. UPS lost the fiat one and GX made right by sending me another one. Just filled my Evol Mini with it and didn't take too long. I have a large filter that I put on it and took maybe 4-5 min to fill to 4000psi. Funny thing I have an older Omega Air Charger and guess what has the same GX inspection tag as these compressors lol. Guess I've been running a GX for years. I'll probably keep this one packed away for now until my Omega craps out but will always have this as a backup or can take it to fill on the go from my truck if need be. I think I should have just sprang for the CS3 like the one I got my dad but the CS2 will work.
