JoeKrooz, I think you've got the right idea.
I've got mine stashed inside a gun safe in my basement, but I have little kids and don't like taking any chances. BUT, I would love to have them on display. Pic below is part of my Dad's collection that I grew up with - conveniently located in what was my bedroom no less. Not the best pic, but in that cabinet, among some powderburners, were two old BSA's, Diana 52, FWB124D, Crow Magnum, R1, FWB300s, all in absolutely pristine shape to this day. His solution for security is ideal if you can pull it off - have them on display but inside a locked, preferably reinforced room.
Of course, one difference between me and my dad is that while mine are kept in their own bunker, they are shot routinely, if not daily. The old man's collection may have a view of the world, but are hardly EVER shot. Last time I was there, I decided to try the 124. While it is absolutely flawless, I'm not sure it's ever had a pellet fired in 35+ years. Most of you can guess what happened after the first shot. Needless to say, I just sent it out for a full tune for him (if you're going to open it up for the reseal, might as well do it all, right?) But I digress...
My two cents: if security and naughty kids aren't an issue, I say let those babies see the light. For me at least, the more often I see them (especially the pretty ones), the more often I want to shoot them. And isn't that the whole point?
