Gun makes noise when filling the air cylinder

Hi all,

I did a quick search but didn't come up with anything that really seemed to answer my question.

I have an Air Arms S510 Ultimate Sporter FAC (the rifle with the looong air cylinder). Love it by the way.....

This doesn't appear to be causing any issue because I've had the gun for a couple years and it's done it the whole time.

When I fill the cylinder from my air tank the gun makes a high pitched squealing noise. This happens if I try to fill it very slowly, medium speed, or very quickly.

I have a "Great White" and a "Tiger Shark" tank with all the bells and whistles.

I occasionally hear other guns at the range making the same noise when filling, but mine does it every single time.

Is there a mechanical problem I should address or just chalk it up as a quirk of this particular gun?

As far as I know, it's normal-my AA S200 did it and my S410 does it too. It might be the way the AA check valves are designed.

Thank you......I am not going to worry about it then unless someone else has info that something bad is happening.

Just a minor annoyance I suppose.

I think your gun is squealing with joy when you fill it with air. It's a happy gun, it will shoot better.

I was trying to find a better word than "squealing" when I was describing the noise, but that was the most accurate word I could think of.

I figured the "squealing" jokes would be soon to follow LOL!!!

I sometimes get that same sound when filling my tank. I think its normal and shouldn't cause problems or worries

I had one as well and it did the same thing. I used to think of it as a sign that I was filling the rifle at a good speed.

I replaced the AA fill port with a foster Q/D and no longer have that. Plus I dont bang up the suppressor and barrel anymore

Sounds like the majority of folks with Air Arms experience the same gleeful squealing  so I'm not going to worry about it.

My RAW squeals to. I can hear the plenums fill to and I'm about deaf!

Gas moving through a small orifice at speed will make noise. "Slow" or "Fast" isn't something you can really control inside the tubing.

Your noise sounds like a normal thing.
