For the last month straight I have shot nothing but my new red wolf in 17. From the very first day I tried it with Crossman premier heavies on high, I have not looked back.
I had picked up a 25 Cal RW prior. I bought both rifles used.
I finally pulled the 25 back out this weekend. Frankly, I’ve been having so much fun shooting the 17, it’s like why change?
I wanted to compare and contrast.
I’ll tell you right now, the 25 recoils WAY MORE!!! It’s not even in the same ballpark. When I’m shooting the 25, it’s all about follow-through and control. When I’m shooting the 17, I’m pretty much allowing it to recoil, It hardly moves. major major difference.
First I tried king heavy. They shot OK. So then I went with some original Kings, much better. This is a generation one red wolf on high power.
All of the groups below were shot at 100 yards they are all five shot groups. All of the groups were shot towards the end of the day, it calmed down significantly at dusk.
The flyer on the target below, if you can call it that at 100 yards, was shot number four. It felt like an excellent shot. Number five went right back in the bug hole. Almost a perfect target. One 9 and four 10s. 3xxx
