Groundhog Down

Had a very nice evening hunt today! Even though I have high end PCP guns I decided since my longest shot was going to be 20 yards I would use my little crosman 2240 converted to HPA. This gun is a blast to shoot and it made quick work of these two groundhogs that were causing trouble for my neighbor. Head shot to both of them at about 13 yards and they dropped right where they were standing.

What kind of power is it putting out ?

With the 14.3 grain Benjamin domes it’s shooting around 760 FPS so around 18 foot pounds. There’s a video on YouTube of Air Velocity Sport and he’s pushing 900 FPS with his but I haven’t put in the time to really juice mine up. It works perfect and gets a ton of shots with the bottle.

That was exactly what I was thinking! If they see me within 65 yards, I might as well just pack up my gun and go home.

Thanks everybody and these little guys are more urban groundhogs not your typical farm ones. So with these guys, as long as I didn’t stay in the same spot as I was when they saw me and ran under the porch then I was able to setup about 20 yards away and just played the waiting game for them to come out in the open so I could get a good clean shot. My neighbor didn’t want any chance of them getting back in the hole and then stinking a few days later so I had to be extra patient and let them come out in the open.

Same for me also,, Chucks eye sight isn't very good. They must sense your presence? I taken them out around 50 yard because i cant get any closer without spooking them. I live in a farming community.

i have a diana 48 in 22 cal im hoping to use on groundhogs. now wearing a hawke red dot. my yard is only 30 yrds or so im hoping at that distance its lights out with a well placed shot.

Yeah @jdh2550 I have done all the mods and the cerakote that is on the gun myself. It’s been a super fun little project that still has a few more things I would like to mess with for a little more power.
