Mr. Hearkens,

You and your .22 Uragan sure take care of business...but, the Northern Harrier follow-up is awesome. I can't shoot at your distances, too many trees, brush and rocks in the way.

I have a similar Raptor that also competes and or completes my ground squirrel hunting. I named him HENERY, a Sharp Shinned Hawk. I have had him beat me to the shot, he swoops down from his high up perch and nails the squirrel before I can squeeze the trigger. My only concern is if I leave a squirrel for him is that my shot is a pass threw. I have several stumps where I leave gophers and squirrels for whoever is hungry. I got a trail cam a while back and I aim it on the stump at night and have captured a few surprises. Owl, Opossum, Fox, dog and the best was a Mountain Lion enjoying a free meal.

Continued good pesting, stay healthy and safe,

I always tee up the squirrels so the hawks and ravens don’t miss them. In years of hunting.... I’ve never seen one there the following day .

seeing the amazing raptors is half the fun. Yesterday I saw a bald, 2 or three golden eagles, red tail, ferruginous hawk ( my fav) swainsons, Northern Harriers, prairie falcon and (I think a black hawk) which is rare here. Didn’t get a pic grr!. I’m headed out in a few minutes for some more shooting : )
