I went to get firewood at my GS permission, did so, and was surprised to see soooooo many juvenile GS running about. Of course I brought my Taipan and figured on MAYBE getting in a shot or two after firewood duties.
Filled the truck with oak and black walnut, nice stuff, and drove to The Honey Hole... talk about whack-a-mole!
I had to decide which short bus GS to shoot first. Of course I 'left some for seed'.
Shot 8 of them but they dropped into a gnarly wood pile and I left them there. Took individual pics, rather than a pile of them, because I really don't want to handle them.
The wood mill supervisor showed up after I filled the truck and informed me that the wood I cut was from the wrong pile. A week ago he said "take from the small pile separated from the rest of the logs in the area where the scrap was before"
Ok Boss, and I did just that. He didn't get pissy and I had him take a look in the truck and he was satisfied not seeing the black walnut buried under the oak. Phew, that's my permission and I gotta be careful.... no more wood cutting until there's a VERY CLEAR sign of what is being scrapped.
