Ground squirrel day

What a day. Very nice 70 degree day and a friend of mine took me to one of his other friends farms to thin the squeaks. This was my first time shooting my Edgun Leshiy 2 at anything other than paper and man did it impress. I have an Immersive Optics 10x40 scope on it. I used to like that scope, now that I have used it to shoot at none paper targets, I love it. Small, light, and such a wide field of view made finding the squirrels in the scope so easy. I was hitting at 30 yards, I was hitting at 80 yards (estimated, no range finder). There was the occasional miss where the squirrel didn’t immediately take cover and the semi auto of the Leshiy allowed me to find the range from the first shot and deliver a quick on target follow up. Man am I impressed with both rifle and scope.
My friend took a .22 LR that he said he wanted to shoot. He never took a shot with it and on the way home he says, “okay, I am sold on the air rifles, that things is so quiet and accurate. Next time I am not bringing the .22.”
As a bonus for the day there were two red tail hawks and one bald eagle(!) following not to far behind us apparently making a meal out of our kills.
Still I guess the best part was having an airguns skeptic come along and then leave talking about how much he likes the airgun. He took a bunch of videos I will see if I can post one of them.

@L.Leon .25. So far that has been kind of my go to caliber as it seem to me to do a lot of things well. The power for most of what I will shoot but not so much to be over kill. I do have a .30 Wildcat that will be devastating to squirrels. Though I think it’s main use is going to be eliminating some Marmots that a friend has doing quite a bit of damage to her property. I am currently patiently awaiting a scope for the Wildcat though so it is not getting used yet. And as I mentioned in your Atomic XR posts I also want to get either the Atomic or Ranger in .22 for those times when I am shooting in a situation that requires low power (around the barn), or just for when I want to plink in the back yard with cheaper ammo. Then I will have a gun for all occasions and I won’t ever need to buy another one. I won’t even have to consider the new Edgun (my guess is semi auto Lelya), or a Daystate Redwolf, or a Kalibr Cricket 2, or some future fully auto whose only real purpose will be to put a big smile on my face. As you can see I have no thoughts of any other guns and once I get my Atomic I will be completely satisfied. In fact I will probably be so satisfied I no longer fell the need to read about and look at pictures of other peoples awesome guns so I probably won’t even have to come to this sight anymore. 😂

This is how it works right? You experienced airguns have all reached that point of being completely satisfied and you don’t even care about the new guns coming out?

Great story and shooting! I’m jealous!

are you shooting with slugs? The reason I ask is I would use slugs only to ensure a full pass through so the raptors won’t get lead poisoning. That’s a huge problem for the condors here in CA and main reason they banned lead hunting ammo which I am in full support of. Thanks for sharing.

I was not using slugs. I didn’t even think about that and now I am concerned. I hadn’t planned on shooting slugs with my Leshiy partly because there are reports they don’t fit the mags well. I guess I need to find some slugs that work. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

edgunleshiey guy on youtube tested AVS slugs to work very well with L2 both shooting/accuracy and mag figment. Safe shooting!
