I live in a condominium and have NOSEY NEIGHBORS. So only shooting I can do is indoors. Electric duct seal has become my savior. No loud impact noises and the pellets stick in the trap. A bonus is that a five pound brick is only twenty bucks and will last for ever.

Mmmmm! I've been eyeballing this stuff for a while now too! Diff brand but same stuff really. How thick did you "cut" it? *how thin can it be and still stop a pellet?I ask bc I would lllooovvveee more than one target to be made from each. Seen some with a metal backer plate as well....was wondering if that's for finding out the thickness needed?

Its funny about that where a pellet cant escape from structure.. heck even in your house if if has a window that can even disqualify you if someone got snotty.

I have a friend that shoots out his back door into his shed to the target , about 45 feet of yard between house and shed .

I'm thinking about something like that too; from a window to a shed....so many thoughts right now

Oh for sure, that's what they intended. But the way it says "building or other structure" opens up the possibility of the "building" and "other structure" not being one and the same.

I work in one of the most highly regulated professions. We've got state and federal laws to deal with, as well as a myriad of alphabet soup agencies trying to tell us what to do. To get licensed in my profession there is an additional law exam, on top of the main board exam. Small differences in the verbiage, like "may" or "shall" have profound effect.

I also use duct seal to quiet down the pellet smack. Duct Seal is pretty thick and it should be no issue with lower power guns. I have not tried to shoot anything above .22 on it though, but if you buy a few slabs, there's practically no chance a pellet could penetrate through.

The way I read it is that the hole process needs to be contained as even though the trap might be there is a lot of room in between the muzzle of your rifle and the beginning of the trap, best to just keep it inside, you don’t want the Police officer to impound your rifle over something silly. If that happens you might no t get it back or loose your shooting privileges all together.

Some times you need to walk away, or tell your I laws to give back the parking space if that’s where the problem started

Ya, i was thinking tall wood no gaps privacy fencing.. but like you say theres no roof or aaway for escape over it.

Maybe start a particion to change that orderance or have it better spelled out .. the eay that one is comes off worded as a catch 22. Damed if you or damed if you dont .

I have it in a box with a steel plate as a back stop. I have it about an inch thick. All my indoor shooters are five fpe or less so very easy on the sealant. A ten pound square two inches thick would be plenty.

Simple fix.... Just make a long structure that is affixed to your house. Just happens that there is a pellet trap at the other end.

We have the same laws up here in my area. It doesn't mean that it was your neighbors, it could have been some moron across town that shot out a window. Just follow the rules and make sure that if you have to shoot outdoors that your neighbors are all ok with it, they don't see you, or just stop shooting outdoors in your area.

Am I the only person here who cannot establish even a modicum of comfort shooting in my backyard which is located in a subdivision? I get that there are a lot of guys here who have no issue with it and that is fine. Just not something I can bring myself to do.

Entirely power level dependent.

Anybody on the high power slug train has no business shooting in a backyard.

But, somebody with a FWB300s, or a HW30s, or a 1720T, or anything else under about 18-20fpe can do so quite safely, with a backstop as simple as a bucket of rubber mulch.

I'm also rubbed the wrong way in the sense of property rights. If it's entirely on my property and affecting no-one adversely, who is the city to think they have that authority? It'd be different if innocent bystanders are getting shot, or even if neighbors property is taking damage (broken windows, holes in siding, etc), but if it is entirely contained on MY PROPERTY, and not affecting anyone else......
