Got this morning for a quick hunt. FXWildcat

After the fog cleared about 8:30 this morning the baby lab Luna and I headed out to get a couple bunnies and the FX worked again. Today it took 3 shots to get 2. The second one was out there about 135 yrds and the shot went a little far back in the lungs and the Bun was trying to getup and run for the creek bushes. I figure that is about the range limit for me. The first one was at 80 yrds, one shot. If any one don't think the American way is alive and well in Sothern Colorado, think again, we eat every thing we take here and always have.
Luna's not quite ready for the liver and hearts, she is only 1 yr and 4 days old but she is learning fast and love to go with Dad when I get one of the guns out.

"JohnL57"Very nice-most of my shots rabbit hunting are 25 yards and closer in heavy cover, it really pays to know the holdovers for the super close shots. I rarely take a longer than 30 yard shot myself. Got a freezer full of bunnies so I'm mainly looking for quail these days.
Thanks for posting!

John out here in eastern elpaso country(Colorado Springs) tree's are far and few between. All of our land is treeless, except around the house. Great for cattle, horses, goats and even a few mountain maggots, but bad for sneaking up on things. We got a few quail out here but I'm trying to get the coveys built up. I don't shoot them now maybe later. I hunt them down near Kim, CO there is lots of quail down there.
Thanks

"dirtbikerick"Nicely done!, what's your favorite recipe for bunny?, I've been soaking mine in very very teriyaki for 2 days then tinfoil it up and slow cooking on BBQ, yum!
Rick my favorite is Buttermilk fried double dipped in seasoned flour. Braised in onion, garlic, and butter is always good yum yumm. I like a slow cooker stew as well seasoned to your liking, with carrots, celery and new potatoes and dash red wine, over some cajun style rice. I have not tried teriyaki, but that sounds good too. We smoke our Kokanee Salmon after we brine them then marinade in Mr. Yashidas marinade. Sam's club teriyaki.
Thanks
