Got the new Air Gun

So it finally came in, my first Air Rifle the Gauntlet. To be honest I was a little over whelm with it being my first “gun” even though so have shot .22lr at ranges before, but this was mine. To keep. Anyways I wanted to check it out, clean and add the parts that I got from Hajimoto.

First I noticed that it came with a barrel band which is great. Next I moved on to check the Air Striper but it seemed in good condition and it wasn’t broken, unlike some of the other ones I have heard about. Still I wanted to replace it with the the one I got from Hajimoto since it was his “HP” version and I had already bought it but I couldn’t get the stock one off. I tried twisting and all sorts of things but no luck.. well I guess it’s not so bad, it’s not cracked right?

Then I wanted to clean the barrel with the Umerax AirGun cleaning kit I bought but... I how do I get the patches through?? The breech isn’t big enough.. Should I get a .22 Rod and clean it like a muzzleloader? In the end I left that alone and decided that I would just shoot a bunch of pellets through it to “season” it. (Haven’t had the chance to shot it yet) I added the baffles from Hajimoto as well and that’s that for now. I also do have some concerns about mounting the scope and making sure I get that process down.

Seems like a lot of work but I honestly look forward to do all of this, even to keep working on it and getting the trigger to the way I will like it. The bolt is rough, that intimidates me the most on how to make that better. OH!! last thing, the bottle came slightly lose, do I tighten it all the way? Or leave it as is? If I tighten it I can’t get the bottle shroud on correctly because the gauge gets on the way then, any tips?

Having never owned a gauntlet i cannot answer the majority majority of your questions, but as far as cleaning procedure for a PCP most folks use a pull thru system. The one shown in the pic is one I bought from airtanksplus.com. You insert the line thru the moderator(use a drinking straw shoved into the moderator as a guide to fish the pull they line, if need be) and when the line comes out the pellet hole in the breech there is a loop to sling on a cleaning patch. I happen to use FP10 as my cleaner of choice. Others use Balistol, Napier, etc. you lightly soak your patch with it and then pull it out thru the muzzle. If you can do this with the gun upside down, all the better, so cleaning solution doesn’t get in the transfer port passageways. 



You can buy a cleaning kit commercially like this one, or do what others have done and make a set up like it using weed eater line, or a very heavy fishing monofilament line.

on my particular gun it took 10 or so patches to pull thru before it came out all clean.

No need to bottom out the threads on the bottle. It seals by way of an O-ring when the system is pressurized. That pressure will put load on the threads and keep the bottle from rotating. What you want is to initially thread it in fully and then back it off the minimum amount necessary to get the fill port and gauge oriented where you need them, then pressurize it lock it there.

If the patches are for your caliber they can be pulled through without to much trouble. If they are for a larger caliber they may not fit so cut them down a little and try again.
