Got my Crosman

I have been setting money aside for a Styer LP50. Every time I get close I blow the money on another toy. One night browsing the computer I came across a 1701P and ordered it on a whim. By the next morning I was bummed. Every time I settle I regret it. And I know the Crosman can’t be a LP50. I got a 1701 and stuck a Burris Fast Fire red dot on it. Ordering the red dot was a complication. When picking up the package the package rattled like a broken watch. But a new one came a few days later. Anyways after adjusting the Hamer and trigger I am pleasantly surprised with the pistol. That little cheap pistol is a shooter. I will defiantly get 300 bucks of joy out of this. Pretty cool to get something that works in todays market

Outstanding. I do know what you mean, it's not an LP but not bad at all for the price ( now you do know about the airgunnation discount and ot free postage fridays & such at crosman right). I could never personally take full advantage of an LP even the 1701P will outshoot me but it's fun trying to get better. I test drove one back when Randy' had the "traveling crosman" passing around before the word was really out on this model and managed to hit many a Fly at 50 yards -sand bags-.

Any of the LW barrel crosmans do deserve a bit more respect than they get. Now that 1720T isnt much of a pistol ( too much pistol ?) but makes a hanide budget mined one hole shooting carbine.

Did you get yout trigger set just so yet?

I've got a 1701P, and love it. Accurate as you can get. It does out shoot me any day.

Little front heavy because of the steel air tube, but other than that, it's a perfect gun. $25 gets you the carbine stock if you want to turn it into a short carbine rifle.

Easy to pump, not too loud, and the Lothar Walther barrel is incredibly accurate. Fully adjustable trigger, able to accept sights of many types, and just a really nice gun. It'll match up to most under $1000 guns, so have fun!

I cumulatively bought three 1701Ps AFTER I bought my high power LP50 and have no regrets buying them.

The 1701P has an accuracy advantage over the LP50 at 50 yards after you change the TP to a larger .067.

It will shoot along side it up to 15 maybe even 20 yards as is with no modification.

DON'T BUY AN LP50 and DON'T EVEN TRY to shoot one because you will turn into an addict wanting his crack.

You are going to waste money constantly buying pellets shooting an LP50 because its ridiculous going through hundreds

upon hundreds and even thousands of pellets in such a short shooting session. I run out of pellets almost every time I shoot it.

Your gonna want to put a reg set at low BAR in an extra cylinder to shoot full auto with it. And LOTS of magazines.

Trying to figure out having a dummy air tube with an HPA low pressure line tethered to a small CF regulated bottle to avoid the

hassle of unscrewing the cylinder every time to refill it and to avoid being tempted to buy more of the Steyr cylinders.

IMHO the FWB P58 is a better gun with a better trigger and it is really quiet to shoot compared to the LP50 if you can find one.

The LP50 sounds almost like a rimfire and the FWB sounds like an unmodified 2240 co2. Maybe even quieter than that.

EDIT- OK just tried to shoot it again and it sounds like a replica 177 co2 pistol. Pretty quiet. A P17 is louder in comparison.

What I am looking forward to buying in the future is the standard LP50 short version for close range work with higher shot count

and I think it would be a better candidate for the low pressure tethering which should be just right being a lower powered gun.

And I am not selling any of my 1701Ps.
