Actually, I got two, but only crippled one.
First one was a side body shot from about 20 yards from the Marauder .177. I've had them go right through on body shots, breaking both ribs. But this one must've hit the thick part of his shoulder, because he ran off on one front leg. Couldn't find him.
Moral of that story is if you have to take a body shot on a squirrel, try to avoid the shoulder; it needs to be right in the upper chest.
I had another opportunity (sadly, not on the same squirrel) later in the day. This time I waited for him to stop a second, and put it in his fuse box. He was 13 yards away, up a tree, but just about 6' high. Pellet entered his cheek, went through the head and neck, then through the shoulder, and the pellet stopped just under the skin at the back of the shoulder. Just for fun, I skinned him with my Swiss army knife. (the carving knife in the pic, I just used to cut through the wrists and ankles) I'm having problems posting photobucket pix. I hope these links work. (if the pix don't show up, see if they render as a link) Which photobucket link are you guys using? The 'email and IM', 'html', or 'img'? IMG seems to work in the composition window, but not reliably in the preview window...
He's waiting in the freezer now, for some company in the crock pot.
