Got a Slab, COMPLETE

Crosman2016 thanks. You don't even have to numb the wood to work on it. And it's easy cause there's no tongue wagging in your way. Hahaha. I agree with Tony.R, I'm planning on natural and let the mahogany be what it is. Gun oil then stock wax will likely be the finish.

Tony.R that truly is a nice piece of wood. I love the variety you can get. I would love to do a bunch of them with exotic woods, but knife handles would be cheaper and quicker. I love the uniqueness of wood and deer antlers. When I buy a firearm I always get them to bring out three and pick the best looking stock. To bad it's harder to do that with Airguns. They aren't as mainstream here yet. Most folks around me don't even know they exist much less own one. I was blown away and jumped in when I stumbled across The squirrel hunter channel and Ted on YouTube.

"Dirte"Looks darn good! Ever use Tung oil?? I love the stuff, and it is easy to use.
Dirte, I like the Birchwood-Casey gun oil which is a linseed oil blend. I've used tung oil before also and I agree it's good stuff. I refinished a mini-14 stock with the Birchwood oil and gun wax and it turned out really nice.

Thanks for for your thumbs-up just.neil. This is my first try from scratch(slab to finish), and it's been fun and a true learning experience.

T3PRanch, there's no telling what you've got up your sleeve! Haha. I learned a lot inletting that Boyd's. It helped me have the confidence to try this. Inletting is the hard work. After that you can do whatever you want on the outside. I thought about going hog wild with a radical design of my own, but for a first try I figured it was best to stay true to the FX design. I think I got pretty close.

"Tony.R"Looks great, can't wait to see how it looks oiled!
Evergreenair, thanks bud, I've been surprised how well it has turned out too. My wife said, "Hey, you could make me a table." Hahaha, this kind of fun can get you in trouble quick.

Tony.R, here you go. Pictures of the first hand rubbed tru-oil coat is bringing out the pattern. NO stain, just the mahogany wood.
