Gone and done a stupid thing…

So I was reading something on the net and they suggested putting a few drops of pelgunoil in a tin of pellets and shooting it. Well I tired it and soaked the pellets then shot it through my pp700sa. Omg that was a mistake cuz it began to shoot everywhere. It was shooting one holes in 10 meters now it’s the size of a fist. Can I wash the pellets with soapy water and dry? Should I clean out the barrel with hopped and also dry patches?

I thought this would improve I guess not.

Yes to all the above. Also don’t use pelgunoil. A simple full synthetic lube or ballistol will work fine. Also, not all barrels will like lubed pellets. It’s a barrel preference like everything else. Wash your pellets with soapy water, run some good ballistol and dry patches through your barrel, and after a few lead in shots, I’m sure it’ll be back to the accuracy you’re used to.

You said you "soaked" the pellets in oil so I'm assuming the skirts have a lot of oil in them & your new name is Vin DIESEL :ROFLMAO:
If you read "a few drops", like most guys, you probably thought MORE IS BETTER. Just clean em off, swab your barrel & you should be good (I hope)

Haven't tried on pellets. But when I get new slugs I have a nylon mesh colander that I dump them into and rinse them off. Then I use some simple green on them and swish em around for a while getting good and sudsy. Rinse them off a couple more times. Dry them off, rinse again, dry again. Spray em down with Ballistol swirl them around in one of the old floursack hand towel things and them dump in my 3d printed container. Been working nicely for me.

You got the oil inside the skirt...when the air blast hits the pellet, theboil in the skirt vaporises and become volatile .. It can be bad enough to cause damage!!! Keep the oil out of the skirt and you wont have that problem. Many of us coat a cloth with our lube then roll the pellets on the cloth which coats the outside but not inside the skirt. I use beeswax which is not volatile, so no diesel issues.

I don't know why so many folks can't simply open the tin and shoot the pellets. Wash, rinse, lube, etc., it's all just bait for the compulsive mind.
Barzor, put your over-lubed pellets in a strainer, give them a hard rinse, let'em dry and then shoot them, and don't worry about the skirts. Or, just throw'em away and open a new tin.
I went through 20 years of bench rest shooting, RF, CF, and air rifle. There is no limit to the extreme behavior of folks looking for the holy grail of the one-hole group, or the 250-10X score. Try it all if you must, but unless you are in the top 1% of the class, it's wasted effort. I now go to the range with my dog, shoot a few targets (or bottle caps), have a sandwich, and call it a good time. And I haven't lubed any pellets in a long time.
Enjoy the game, don't make it hard.
