Glow in the Dark Pellet Pest Control with the EDgun Leshiy and ATN X Sight 4K

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5wsSZaiRQE

At the end of the day, my number one goal is gaining the upper hand in this pest control war raging in my yard. However, I'm a technology guy, who enjoys telling a good story. For giggles I decided to document it all given the sweet camera that's in the ATN X Sight 4K Pro. By the growth in the YouTube channel, it appears the content resonates with you all too... so naturally I'll look for ways to improve the entertainment value ;)

Slow motion footage and pellet tracking is where I focused my attention. Both of these require a camera capable of recording in higher speeds (120fps is probably the minimum for clear footage) and optimal lighting conditions. Seeing that we don't do pest control in a photo booth, I wanted to explore inexpensive ways of enhancing the slow motion pellet tracking.

Tracers seemed like the logical starting point. I watched a few videos, and used their lessons learned as a starting point. I tried nail polish, but found it too thin... so that was immediately out. I then used a florescent paint pen and green glow in the dark glue. Both were pretty effective, but had their pluses and minus. The biggest was the need for a UV light to charge the glow in the dark glue. It was cumbersome using the Leyla as you had to cycle the mag and charge the pellets with the UV light. The Leshiy made this way easier, but it was still a pain in the ass.

I settled in on the pink glow in the dark glue, as I thought I'd get the best of the paint pen color, plus the glow in the dark aspect. As you'll see in the footage this did pretty well, but not enough for the effort in my opinion. I was about to call it, and then decided to try a combo... pink glue, and then after it dried, add a dab of the paint pen. WOW... what a difference!!

Hey, tell us the truth,,, are you spiking the peanuts with steroids..? You've got the biggest fat healthiest looking nutters I've ever seen. Seems like you're the nutter pied piper...

Nice addition the neon paint it does make a difference for sure. Slo-mo pellet action is what makes your vid stand out above others, that paint just amplifies it. Filling the skirt that much with glue is taking away volume from the skirt cavity that is the main thrust point for the pellet, has got to effect mid-long range pellet performance,, no..?

And you got me saying edgun edgum edgun,,,lol.... My atn is on the way.. What version software are you using..?

Thanks for the vids they clearly are some the best on the net. So good with the atn, skill, great shooting, your narrative and its almost like we're there taking part in the hunt, nice job.

tflats99,

I rambled on your YouTube video about another 'glow in the dark' custom mix..
The powder that I used to use was what was used in military grade glow-sticks..
I found a similar and much cheaper option here:

Powder - https://www.gloeffex.com/collections/super-phosphorescent-glow-powder

As for the carrier solution, I recommended CA-glue [clear 2 part epoxy would probably work too]
ca-glue is just much quicker to work with, and the best glue that I've always worked with
is from Bob Smith "BSI" Just about every good Hobby Shop will sell it for building RCs, models, etc.
but I just found a link to it on Amazon..

CA-Glue + Accelerator/Activator Kit - https://www.amazon.com/Bob-Smith-Industries-BSI-157H-Insta-Set/dp/B07BWLXRGS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1546682108&sr=8-3&keywords=ca+glue

**Can be used with or without the accelerator - But kicking the glue can potentially make the end result a bit milky. Hit/Miss.

*Thumbs Up*

Ha! These fatties dine frequently on the feeder, but generally speaking... lots of food, and no predators I guess. I got one that had to be 4 or 5 pounds. I couldn’t believe it.

I can’t image these would work well beyond 30-40 yards for lots of reason... many of which you mention.

thabks for the feedback... appreciate it!

I saw that powder... wasn’t sure the best application. I’ll try why you suggest. Sounds like a round 2 video coming soon 🤣

Does any of this stuff affect pellet accuracy? I used to make glow in the dark fishing lures. Hit them with a cheap camera flash and WOW!

I had no issues with accuracy. I didn't even have to adjust zero. This was all 25 yards or so... beyond that, I suspect they will have some issues. You can see the flight path is not as clean within the slow motion footage.
