Huben GK1, Thoughts on the good and the not so good.

Not sure where to post this…

I have been worried about direct fills from the cs4 because I could not find one of those cartridge filters rated for over 4500 psi. I have not been using anything between the cs4 whip and the gun and stressing a bit when reading some of the posts about the importance of having additional moisture and oil separation to protect the gun from moisture.

when it is not awfully humid, I fill to 5000 psi with a gx cs4 pump. When it is humid i fill to 4500 psi with a pony bottle and then top off to 5000 if i feel a need to use the full capacity. It's been very humid so I've been refilling that pony bottle quite a bit the last month, using one of the tube shaped cartridge filters- it has dessicant, some kind of charcoal/carbon, as well as a filter/ "tampon".

Getting to the point here, I opened things up and was totally surprised to find there is no sign of any moisture or oil whatsoever getting past the separator built into the CS4. The fibrous tampon (that the air passes through first) is essentially as clean and dry as the day I put it in. Very different from the air that was coming out of my Yong Heng which was often moist and tended to stain/dirty the filter inserts noticeably.

I guess I can feel OK about doing those direct fills if there's no issue when filling the larger bottle (unless I'm missing something) because it's a much shorter period of time to fill, there's less heating up and a less intense temp swing so I would expect even less condensation.

Does anyone know of a filter device that's rated for 5000 psi that doesn't cost as much as a cheap compressor?

I bought the gk1 but have the gx cs3 already i will try filling the gun with the cs3 to 5k or am I outta mind 😅

You get the wrong idea, I really like the gun and I'm sure it will shoot great, that doesn't mean that you can't spot a lot of things on a gun just looking at it and examine the design.

My main complain externally is the extra lenght that takes the handle, the others are just details that can be easily patched.

Internally, yes, I complain about the not so shock proof safe mechanism, but if you want to prove me wrong, please make a video bashing your GK1 on a table with the safe engaged, so people can see if the thing pass a standard pistol safety test. Well... my instructor do the same with a cooked, unloaded semi-auto with external hammer to demonstrate the safety of the gun, and the damn thing discharged anyway... but with a semi-auto, you can just carry it with no round on the chamber, and with a revolver or even a standard airgun with a hammer that strikes the valve, it's much more unlikelly to discharge accidentally.

But with the GK1... Tell me that you will feel safe taking it to a hunt or just to the range, loaded and attached to your waist or something.
Will you run with it? will you go trough the wilderness with it feeling safe?

What can I say.. I would have prefered that the safe on the GK1 was a big thing actually bloquing the rear of the mooving rood so it can't, no matter what, accidentally shoot you with the safe engaged if you trip to the ground or something accidentally hit the gun.
Safest gun I own is a savage 20 g break barrel shot gun carried open with no shell in it. Quick drop in shell then fold and shoot. As for the GK1 I only shoot 12 pellets at a time and I leave five blank till I am ready then rotate cylinder to first loaded pellet and fire. Safe to carry and not worried about dropping. I don't carry any of my powder burners with a chambered round. Things happen so why take the chance. Im 77 years old and have to many memories of friends being shot by an unloaded weapon, just saying.
