Huben GK1 in .22 or .25?

Should I get the GK1 in .22 or .25? And which projectiles (head size) should I stock up on?

Thank you. Trying to get a rig for my 8yr little girl. But no luck so far
@addison You know your child better than us, but I think a GK1 might be a bit much for an 8-year old. The safety features aren’t quite there and they pack a helluva punch. Have you considered looking at the Evanix Viper or the Benjamin Marauder pistol? Or maybe a Notos?

Benjamin was a no go tried it and we both hated it! She loved the leshiy 2 but the cycling of mag was terrible so sent that down the road. Thinking about just buying a ruger mark 4 and putting my silentco sparrow on it and put a brace on it and letting her take down targets and squirrels. We are in the south and that girl loves hunting with her daddy.

@addison I think I get it. I was just thinking of the inability to remove the mag to render the pistol truly safe. That is unique to the Huben platform. With a child I Wouldn’t want to only depend upon the safety as powerful as these little pellet guns are. Have you looked at a Western Mordax? It has a removable mag.

Price is my issue with them! Way to rich for my blood for the trade off but to each his own.

Agree. With an aftermarket loading gate, it's trivial to pop the pellets back out to empty. Your point is well taken for sure.

Just now seen your post due to my lazy Saturday scrolling the forum. Love the post and what you said at the end. Warms my old heart. I have a daughter but she is alot older now. She loves to hunt. Not my daughter but my 4 year old grandson is on my radar for future gun courses with papa lol. Have a great one

I don't see that much power diference between .22 and .25 from youtube test videos, so I would go for the .22 for the much greater penetration against not so small game, + cheaper ammo + more ammo options + more shoot count.

I got the .177 don't need any more power or noise. Just for target shooting and rapid fire without drawing any attention.

Really? I can't find any video about performance of the GK1 in .177.

At what max power config have you been able to tune it? Just really curious about the drop in power from the .22 to the.177.

From my research someone said shooting fruits or soda cans with the .22 is fun, but shooting them with the .25 makes you smile 😁

Depends on your preference but cheaper .22 pellets would be better for me. California also forces you to use non-lead pellets outdoors which will be tougher and more expensive in .25. I’m broke living in CA got to save money somewhere 😭

Despite claims that slugs are no good for the gk1, it is the only thing I shoot in mine. The only pellet that did any good was the GTO, but they are so light they don't even swing my steel targets when they hit. I shoot Varmint Knockers 28gr .223 slugs, and when scoped have gotten 1" groups at 50 yards. The slugs do get a dent from the pseudo rifling in the cylinder and stay snug. The thing I have learned from going over several K1s and GK1s with Kelly is....the magazines are not consistent from batch to batch, and different batches seem to like different ammo sizes. My 2018 magazine in my K1 only like .2193 slugs, and the v1 gk1 only likes .223...

Cheers!
My v1 GK1 has a larger cylinder bore, all I have shot out of mine is .22 JSB 25.xx There is a head shot pic in the head shot thread. Rocker1 .22 LDC on the end makes it back yard friendly at 45 fpe for a full mag.
