Gil's new Benjamin Trail

Hey folks, not sure how things work here, but figured i'd throw up a catch-all thread to help me get started with my Benjamin Trail.

it's a 22, but not even sure what "trim" it is. isn't there the NP, the XL....? doesn't say on the box.

i've only put 5 pellets through it, not aiming at anything, but just pointed in a safe direction and shot. trigger is heavier than i expected.

I have a trail np and it gets frustrating at times. It is very hold sensitive

I have the np and xl models. xl is a beast to cock but shoots hard. It's more accurate in 22 cal. As for the trigger,
myairgunreviews on u-tube has several easy fixes for the trigger. I chose the 8.5 mm ball bearing. Makes the trigger great.

Fix the trigger, and check the stock and barrel pivot bolt for tighteness. Follow this video ffor the Traxxas 5114 bearing fix.

Just put about 15 pellets through and still smoking. Benjamin Discovery 14.3 gr. Seems like some fit tighter than others and some shot sound louder than other. Can't say for sure if the pellets that tighter are louder.

I did some work on my trigger also. I found a video on you tube of an easy fix. All i did was grind a little on the trigger internal part...i forget what you call it. I'll try to find the video again. As bobbed06 said be sure to check your stock screws and scope screws. I use some blue loctite on mine. Be sure to get the BLUE. 
Experiment with different holds also, mine like to be held kinda firm. Just be sure to good it the same way every time when you find what's best. Www.gatewaytoairguns.org. is another form where i found a lot of info on the trail

watching this video scares me. granted it's from 2013, so hopefully, Crosman has made some improvements with workmanship.

I am fairly sure that Crosmans trade mark is a guaranteed shoddy assembly job! Its usually just a matter of going thru them and making sure they are assembled correctly. For the price they are still a good buy in my opinion. I am no expert though. Be sure and keep us posted as it progresses.

+1 on Gil's idea . I bought one of those and Charlie's trigger made a big difference . I like the Crosman guns , without them a lot of guys wouldn't have access to modern airguns . But bear in mind they are made ( like everything else ) to come in at a certain price point . For the price range they are nice guns . Most just need a little tweak or two ,and a good cleaning and relube to see what they are capable of .
Chip who is at the top of the foodchain at Crosman posts here . He's a really nice guy ..Look him up if you have any specific questions . He will bend over backwards to help customers .

I like the Charlie triggers, they have that bling factor. I have heard some guys prefer the Crosman trigger with the bearing mod over the Charlie trigger because the bearing mod can retain use of the travel screw and if preferred you can make it a super short pull where the Charlie trigger requires removal of that screw..Myself, I did not see the need for the travel screw to be in place as I was happy with it without the screw. I like knowing that if I chose to do so, I could shorten the pull even further. Its all preference I guess. For me, the fact that I can mod two triggers for $5 bux and I am super happy with the action its a no brainer. Oh, and all my rifles are blacked out, so a gold trigger didnt seem so appealing to me.


I am sure you will be happy no matter which route you choose.

Ha! So I did both. Actually ordered the bearings on amazon yesterday and it should be delivers tomorrow. Also mailed in the money order for the CharlieDaTuna CBR trigger today.

Got a chance to install the Charlie Tuna trigger and plink a few shots while the wife and kids are off at Build-a-Bear.

The new trigger actually caught me completely off guard with how light it is. I like it. Don't feel like I'm staining and anticipating the shot at all after a few shots.

5 shots at 15 yards. Supported (on a chair and a pillow). approx 4 inches high.

Don't think i's too shabby for not actually having put rounds on a target in years.
