Getting to know my Akela

I picked up an Akela during Crosman's sale last month, and am starting to clean it. Like others here have posted, the two exterior barrel o-rings are in bad shape. How would I go about eliminating the potential for this problem in the future? I'm assuming the culprit is the edge I've partially circled in the bottom photo, and/or might it be something inside the receiver?

I am not even crossing my fingers, let alone holding my breath, that any Crosman rep will reply to this thread.

They KNOW they sold a dog with the mange.

The Fortitude has its problems, but THAT gun is still working for me and meeting my needs over 2.5 years after I bought it. In fact, it is the gun I depend on for my backyard pesting. Not perfect by a long shot, but it works and has required very minimal maintenance over that time.

Of course, Crosman discontinued it...

The Akela... requires voiding the warranty straight out of the box just to be able to adjust it to the knee and get a decent and efficient shot string! GEEZ!

Out of the box, it is close to worthless at any price.

No, I am not a happy camper and Crosman will have to come up with a great deal when I return my Akela to keep me as a customer.

I already stopped using their pellets because of extremely poor quality control. Now their pellets aren't even a deal compared to JSB.

Who is making these decisions at Crosman? They need to be fired!
