Getting the Streamline summer ready, Katy Perry style....

Have any of you heard that semi inspiring, slightly annoying song titled "Roar" by Katy Perry? Very confusing when my 8 yr old daughter tells me she loves the "eye of the tiger" song and I immediately start singing the tune of the ever popular Survivor song. "No dad, not even close..." She informed me that the real song is by Katy Perry. Anyway, I have been getting my two older children to come out and shoot with me at times and she informed me that this summer she would come out with me if she had "her own gun." My son has already claimed the Veteran and does quite well with it. When asked what weapon she prefers she tried them all and settled on the Streamline.

She informed me that she is NOT a hunter but would gladly go shooting paper and targets with dear old dad. So in order to get her a little pumped up, we took apart the gun and figured out what could make the gun "hers". When asked what her theme could be she informed me that a "Roar" gun would be pretty cool. I had an extra synthetic stock that had arrived broken in the mail. I epoxied and pinned it back together and then we proceeded to transform the plain black stock into something more befitting a spunky, fun little 8 year old. We came up with this design and she LOVES it. With a little painters tape and a few colors of paint we created the "Streamline- Big Cat" edition. Hopefully I can transition that enthusiasm into some productive learning sessions this summer. I can tell already that I'll have to put a cheek riser on it to position her eye a little higher as the rings have to be so tall to clear the mags.

What do you think? What do you guys do to involve your young 'ens? I'd love to hear about any games/contests you do with them that keeps their attention?

That gun turned out awesome for your daughter. You did a great job, it looks really cool! I can relate... my youngest took over the Brocock Bantam, my oldest took over the FX Streamline, so I had to go out and buy a new gun for myself. Now we're all set with new PCP's. I can tell you from experience that interactive targets really keep the kids excited. I have a 9year old and 11 year old and we shoot a lot, almost every day, weather permitting. Here's some of the stuff I bought a while back... A dueling tree, Box gong, ferris wheel, little steel animals, blast bottle caps, exploding golf balls, tic tac toe, and one of the boys favorites, a 300 pack of army men. We have a blast shooting those little things! Have fun! Stoti
