Getting My FWB 300 Shooting Again

Well, took the 300 out in the back yard and measured out 25 yards to the target. Started sighting the 300 in with the Leupold 3-9 x 33 EFR. zero'd it in pretty quickly. Boy is the trigger ever feather light! I may need to firm it up just a frog's hair. Fun afternoon free shooting and hitting 10X's. Now I need to find me a decent chronograph to see more what the gun is doing.

I have four different ones; 3 FWB300s and one Mini. They all shoot between 595 and 630 fps, FYI.

Four FWB 300s's wow. This one I have is my 2nd. The other one was a 300S Universal in mint condition. Less than a tin of pellets through it and fresh buffer and breech seal in it. Lefty stock. Sold it to a fella that was left handed. God, it was so nice that I hesitated letting it go but I figured he would get very good use of it being that he was a lefty and participating in a lot of bench rest competitions. I'll have to touch base with him to see how he likes it. My 300 is not as mint but close. I think I will continue to enjoy shooting it.

Very enjoyable thread to read through. You have the double satisfaction of having a great classic rifle to shoot and the satisfaction of all the hard work you put into it.

@Moog thanks for the kind words. I love the tactile feel of high quality mechanisms and machinery. I can really appreciate the workings of the FWB300 and completing this project was extremely satisfying. I was a little uncertain as to my being able to pull it off but it all turned out well because I took my time and I had help from all the videos and articles written on the subject. Also, as I read more about the tuning possibilities of this gun I continue to glean more information. I don't know what my next project will be but I'm going to look forward to it. Glad you enjoyed reading everything.

Maybe all these posts should have been moved over to the "Tuning and..." section. Not sure. But I had my FWB 300 (no S)😏 out and dusted off a destructive squirrel at 20 yards. Head shot (third hair behind his ear)😃 The "300" turned out great and shooting it is such a pleasure. The gentleman who originally owned it was a collector and he passed away. So I ended up buying it from his daughter. Unfortunately she didn't have all the original paperwork. Absolutely nothing had been done to the gun and I received it in like new condition except for the fact that all the oil in the action had turned to shellac and required a good cleaning and the buffer & breech seal need replacing. Got Macarri's seal and buffer. One gorgeous example of a 300. Need to get it chronied.

Merry Christmas to all - may your pellets/slugs fly straight and true😁

What a great turn around. Glad it ended up in your hands. I wish I had picked up your lefty. No funds at the time. Win some/ lose some.

Yes Lewis that lefty was a gem. In pristine condition. I would like to find a FWB124 in the same condition to keep my 300 company😊 Just need to keep looking. Hope you have a Merry Christmas my friend.
