Getting my first real airgun :)

So after months of trying I finally am getting the Hatsan 1000S with 9 different pellet varieties to try with. Although this is not my first pick by any means, but the gun costs $100 and I have yet to see a place with less then four stars with it and I see no bad reviews on YouTube. Anyway, I would like to know what I should do when I get it (e.g., tighten screws and use lock tite on them, clean the barrel, etc.).

I hope this was a good choice :)

Thanks,

Antoni

Hey,That's great. Have you ever had a break-barrel air rifle before? If not you'll be surprised at how hard it seems to cock.Especially at the advertised 29 lbs cocking effort. Just be patient with it,it gets easier as the rifle smooths out with use and you get toned up a bit and those muscles get trained. The 1st thing I do is oil it. The trigger, the linkages. Most folks say it takes several tins of pellets thru them before they start to settle down. And then several more tins before it really settles down.So be patient.I use my cheapest pellets 1st.Good luck

Cleaning the barrel is a good idea-use a pull through like the Crown saver and pull the patches from breech to muzzle. Don't overdo the screw tightening but check tension often, especially for thirst few tins of pellets. Try JSB, H&N, Crosman Premier and RWS pellets. Find the one that groups the best and go from there. Shoot it a lot and have fun!

Shoot safe,

John

My Hatsan Striker 1000x took some 95 rounds before it started breaking in. And that was after cleaning the bore, etc first & after every session. It was broke in pretty good by 150-200 rounds or so. Keeping it clean seems to accelerate the break-in process in my experience. I read about the Optimus 3-9x32 scope they come with being lousy, so I went to Amazon after ordering the gun for $96 on sale at Midway USA & got the Hammers 3-9x32AO mildot scope for some $58 from Treadpro. Great eBay seller! Just keep the barrel clean, and the action lubed every once in a blue moon. They really don't need to be oiled all the time. And a couple drops of 30w silicone oil on the breech seal once in a while to keep the seal from drying out.
