General statement about most scopes that come with package buys

any package deal generally is of an entry level type. it may be tempting when money is limited. and it will get you shooting for a little bit. but as your desires grow, so will your willingness to spend a bit more to upgrade your platform. scopes are generally the culprit. you are better off getting the gun, then researching for the best affordable scope for your purposes. CYCLOPS VIDEOS on youtube done by joe rhea is a fantastic place to start. he will tell you which scopes are the best for less than $100 or even under $50 . He even rates scopes in $200 class $300 class and so on.

sorry to run on like that, to answer your question, no, i never had good luck with package scopes. good luck.

Gamo scopes aren't too terrible if you shim them up so you aren't near the end of the turret travel.

Center Point's do ok for alot of guys.

The mass of the mid-level airgun buyers are NOT enthusiasts, and if the gun came with a 200.00+ scope and the package deal cost twice what it does then they probably would never buy the gun. They also wouldn't buy it if they knew they'd also have to spend another 200.00+ for a scope.

Truth of the matter is that the majority of mid-level airguns get shot for a week, then thrown in a closet and/or put in their next garage sale for 15.00

Buy from a quality manufacturer. I have a Diana AM03 came with a scope. recoil absorbing mount and a good quality case. The Diana AM03 is German made and is a gas spring brake barrel. Mine is a .22. It was great out of the box, haven't changed a thing, still shooting to point of aim good for squirrels, rabbits, doves, pigeons etc. I've read of complaints about some of the less expensive break barrels scopes. I decided to take a chance on the Diana AM03, it was well reviewed and the scope mount has been reviewed favorable again. The gun sits against the back door jam. It's my 3rd Diana. Also have an Impact, bobcat, and airforce arms talon. They all work well.

My Benjamin Trail NP2 came with a Centerpoint 4-9x scope. The scope works just fine on the NP2 and holds its zero, considering the rifle is a nitro piston break barrel and has significant recoil. Obviously, the scope can hardly compare with the higher end scopes on my W.A.R Flex(Athlon Cronus) and Impact X(Athlon ARES) in terms of clarity, brightness, turrets, etc... but it works as it should and has been reliable.

I wouldn't just blindly discount all packaged scopes - bit of luck involved and sometimes you might get a lemon, which sucks. But by far, these packaged scope bundles gets one started, gets one shooting as soon as possible, comes with the proper scope mounts and rings to get one shooting on the same day. Better than having no sights or just iron sights, or buying the wrong mounts or scope ring size, etc...

I agree with the last poster, the CP 4x16x56 I got packaged with my Armada is excellent for a package deal. No frills like an illumated reticle, but does have a side wheel for focus to 10 yds and holds focus POI.. Anyone that has one of these, Crosman.com has a bigger side wheel that the yardage numbers line up and will fit if you remove the rubber inner ring and clamp straight on to the side adjuster. Looks like it belongs. Best part is it is under $8.00.
