Gen III Leshiy-Here's what I want- how about you

Here's what I would like to see in a Gen III Leshiy: Hexagon barrels that can be indexed and easier to put back the same each time, with one barrel screw on each side, instead of two on one side, go back to the metal butt stock, make the analog air gauge standard and the EDMU an option, a nice two stage trigger, and make the gun capable of accepting any AR grip. If a gun needs a strong grip to be fired accurately, give us the capability to easily replace the short one it ships with.

Here's what I would like to see in a Gen III Leshiy: ... and make the layout right handed oriented instead of left. I realize Ed, that you are left handed, but 80% of people are right handed. Are you making guns for yourself or us? Please make the cocking levers and hinges right hand oriented. Thank you

Some nice suggestions, but I don’t get the quoted ones. The cocking levers on Edguns (R5, Lelya etc) are on the right (and left as well, so everybody happy). So what gives?

But fact is these guns ARE still righthand oriented, or else they would have been made with the magazine feeding from the left, so it would not be sticking in ones face when shooting them left handed.

As for the Leshiy, I’d say it’s downright (pun intended ;-)) oriented righthanded too, because when shooting left handed, you cannot take the safety off one handed (you need the non shooting (right)hand, or take the shooting (left) hand off the grip and trigger.) I shoot my Leshiy ambidextrous, and I notice no discomfort when shooting from either side when I break the stock to cock the hammerspring. So please explain.

I think it'd be easiest to hold the leshiy with your right hand being on the grip and cock with the left but maybe not. Also the single shot guns R3/R5 as far as I've seen are ALL on the right side. And R5M mag is on the right side also. So I'd agree with MartinT on that being they pretty much are setup for right handed shooters.

The other things though not bad suggestions. Not sure they'll happen especially the hex barrel but a cool idea

Don't forget to ask for more custom colors

Edgun West said only 12 limited edition colors were imported to U.S. Jack said 3 were in Desert Sand

Offer gray or black faced analog gauge, An AR style grip with picatinny finger grip , A combo kit with extra barrel cal, and lengths , Dump the auto reset safety button, Dump the refrigerator white signage for flat, semi gloss, gloss gray or black paint

Brian said last Friday when I ordered a black one, Ed said-NO MORE CUSTOM COLORS OR SPECIAL EDITIONS-Brian would not even take an order from me for a Desert Sand. Maybe if I tell Ed it’s for Vladimir Putin I can fake him out 😄. If I can find one, I will buy it even though I will have the black. I can always sell the black for half of what I paid for it-as usual.

I'll Take it please Sr haha half is good for me ( just kidding of course ) if this is true 😲 I should keep mine lol. Oh Noo!

extremely generous of you😁

cmatera : I am glad you started this post TY , I saw your WTB DS post, Thats when Jack K told me only 3 DS sold here. I am sooo glad they stopped painting the square bar code scan on the left side. I would never buy one with it. I am also close to buying the Leshiy on classifieds here for $1300, But my inner pendulum of mine goes a little crazy sometimes and I can't make up my mind. It all about cost

I will say this : I am really tired of waiting on the FX Dream Tac Compact to be released. And most likely will be told their all sold out for the year. The leshiy is looking better everyday. Enjoy your new leshiy.

HuntersGlen, I struggled with the decision for a long time too. It’s a lot of $$ for a single shot gun, but I rarely need a fast followup shot when hunting. I doubt I would ever buy a used gun to save $100 even if it was like new. If I can’t save 15-20% it’s not worth it to me. I bought the gun, 2 extra barrels. one with a shroud extension, Huma reg, Huma reg tester, front grip, add-on suppressor, 3 Huma pellet dispensers, analog gauge, and Dedal Stalker. My bill came to a whopping $3,300, so I hope it works out too.

It is risky. The barrels need polished to shorten the break in period, and the EDMU is hilarious. Ed made a video about the tiny o-ring deep down in the EDMU that needs maintenance. In the vid, he shows a special tool to disassemble it, but no one I know of, not even his North American distributor has the tool, that’s why I bought the analog gauge so I can swap out the timex watch nobody wanted when it dies.

I can tell you the enthusiasm for the Leshiy is not nearly as strong in Europe, and they’ve been at this airgun game a lot longer than most here in the US. So why did I buy the Leshiy? It’s the only gun in the Edgun line that is truly unique. There’s the Lelya, but there are a lot of great bullpups out there. There’s the Matador, but there are a lot of good full-size rifles out there. The Wildcat Compact, and Wildcat MKII are just as good in that arena, and if I want to shoot 1-4 slug shots at a coyote, I will get an Airforce Texan in .257 with a Neil Clague shroud, and the new regulated valve and bottle for it.

Ironically, this is not my first “pack gun.” I have a full kit Verminator Extreme MKII in .25 (arrow barrel, pellet barrel, 2 scopes, 2 sets of NL rings, shroud extension, hard case) I was marketed as a pack gun, but I later found out that disassembly/re-assembly (although I never had a problem with it) on a regular basis can lead to wear/leak problems so I don’t disassemble it. Luckily , it is a fine rifle in spite of not really being “packable.” It shoots like a laser has a two setting power adjuster, and hits harder than my .25 Warcat did.

This happens a lot with products. They are marketed with a feature that’s supposed to be a reason to buy, and then after you buy it, the manufacturer tells you not to use it that way. An off topic example. My wife has two self cleaning ovens. on the top is the digital control panel (clock, timer, settings). The panel burned out. The repairman said that even though the ovens are self-cleaning, the extreme heat during the process kills the control panel above , so don’t use it, clean it manually.

Good luck with your decision. If I end up not liking the Leshiy or even just wanting something else, I will do what I always do-sell it take my loss (which I’m sure will be a lot more than $100) and move on.

Its funny you say that huntersglen, because I was bummed when I got my leshiy and it did not have a code on the side.

Signage: I am old school where Less is more. JadedC that code picture would draw my eyes right to it. I kept glancing at it every time I would see that side.

.

First time I saw one of those machine-readable labels I thought, why just a little square of camo?

If I owned a Leshiy, I would hold on to it for a long time. This is a "niche" gun, one that is so unique, so different, that people get quite excited about it and can't wait to buy it.

Remember the Colibri 1.0? The "Hummingbird"...it didn't look all that good, but it shot quietly, had a new fangled mid-gun cocking lever, got a great shot count, and was tiny but powerful for a .22 pcp. Try to find a used one today.

The 'bird had a number of problems that eventually got sorted out, thanks to the genius of our friend Mr. Ernest Rowe. Then it suddenly went off the market, while we waited in vain for the manufacturer to produce the anticipated semi-auto version. I'd love to have kept the one I owned. Just when I got it all sorted out, something unusual caught our attention, and off I went, chasing a new single shot Lelya 0.0 like a horny teenager on prom night!

Guns like this are so specialized, they are bound to eventually disappear from the new gun market, and become collector's items, especially in the assorted colors. When the Leshiy 5.0 comes out, it will be magazine fed, semi-auto, with a much higher capacity carbon fiber air cylinder, and an adjustable butt plate. The version 1.0 will become an event in air gun history, unique, valuable, and unattainable.

Hang onto them, maintain them carefully. I believe they will increase in value over time.

Just my random thoughts from 1969 to the present...and I wish I had all the unique guns I obtained in this hobby in that time.

Have a day.
