New member here,...my first review post. After watching videos and reading reviews and posts on the forum, I decided on the Gauntlet SL30. I wanted something to take care of the ground squirrels. I mounted a Westhunter scope and have it just about zero'd in perfectly at 55 yards.

I've been using the Brimstone 50 gr. pellets, and I'm really impressed. The accuracy is consistent, and they really hit hard! They are blowing through 5/8 plywood at 55 yards!

I bought the Gauntlet for pesting ground squirrels. The Gauntlet is ridiculously powerful and accurate, and I can't believe the sound of the smack a 50 gr. pellet makes! I think the Gauntlet SL30 and 50 gr. pellets is just what I was looking for! I'm really happy with it! I'm super impressed and it's doing exactly what I wanted it to do, stock right out of the box!

Anybody else here like the 50 gr Brimstone Pellets? Theres soooo many different choices out there. Haven't thought about trying slugs and I'm really sure what's the advantages or disavantages of slug vs. pellet?

Congratulations on a fun successful entrance into the fun of PCP airgunning!

I have not used Brimstone pellets, but you might want to give JSB, JTS, and AEA, a try too. There's being impressed, and then there's being blown away! There are many threads on these forums with information on slug use out of the SL30 too, and they're shooting big pigs with them, let alone little ground squirrels. Have fun!

If it hits what you aim at then it is a fine pellet. I've used Apolo, JSB and AEA around 48gr in my Gauntlet. All work fine. Apolo are just slightly less consistent than the JSB or AEA but they don't miss the tree rats at 25-45 yards.

I generally use .22 for tree rats but sometimes the .30 is what I have in hand. Tends to make a mess and you need to be very aware of the background because the pellet isn't stopping at the tree rat.
