Gauntlet moderator

Evening everyone,

I mentioned in a couple of other posts that I recently acquired a Gauntlet in .25. Now that the scope is set up properly I’m starting to pay more attention to the noise. It isn’t ridiculous but still noticeable. What would be a good moderator for this 1st generation rifle? In this case I’d like to get a bolt-on unit instead of something that requires modification. Thanks.

Otis,
Glad you asked, had same problem and found answers in a Hajimoto video. Inside the barrel shroud, at the muzzle end is a cigar shaped plastic sound deflector and spring. Replace that "cigar" with a 4-piece baffle set, I found one on eBay for $15. Make sure baffles point correctly and spring is re-used. The Generation 2 Gauntlet has this modification already. Try this mod first before investing in a moderator, made big difference for me, plus do you really want to add length to a 47" gun? WM

Rick,
Just checked eBay, they're selling six baffle sets for $13. Maybe I had six baffles too, can't recall. Just search "Umarex Gauntlet." You'll likely see a $37.99 1/2-20 UNF Adapter for the Gauntlet, as well. This adapter replaces threaded cap on shroud end, then just screw on a moderator. Check Hajimoto website for moderators, many to choose from, expensive, so try baffle mod first, IMO. WM
