Gauge Alignment

I have two new gauges for my Impact ready that I need to install. When I took off the bottle side gauge and went to reinstall it, it wanted to align 180 degrees opposite when tightened down.

What are folks doing to align gauges in the desired orientation? I noticed there was dried thread sealant on the FX gauge threading, should they be screwed down and secured with a hardening thread sealant? Rubber prints? Would an arbitrary amount of Teflon tape be an option?

Taco, I've never had any luck with sealants, paste or teflon tape. What I use with great success is the #105 70durometer orings. These little chubby orings will give you plenty of compressibility to allow you to align your gauges as you want. They don't have to be snugged down too tight to form a seal but if needed they can be snugged up extra for alignment.

Hope this helps,

Jking

I can make the silver Huma gauges seal 100% just finger tight and then use a wrench if necessary to align the gauge. The FX gauges having the plastic housing needs a wrench from the get go since the plastic housing pops off so easily if you attempt to tighten with your fingers/hand. I don't think it would be a good idea to try to turn them an additional 360° to align the gauge but hopefully you can get them to seal and align without having to go that far. Always keep the gauge turned away from you if you decide to tighten it under pressure for the safety aspect.

Yeah I depressurize everytime. They seal being hand tight, + 1/4 turn, but I can't get them aligned like the factory had them both with it without the o-rings Huma provided. Oh well, I can live with them being off a bit until I get some of those after o-rings that you mentioned earlier :)

I did what JK did as well. The orings came with the HUMA gauges. FYI Harbor freight sells a slim open end wrench 10mm / 11mm works perfectly on the FX Gauges. Don't tweak on the FX gauges to much as you will end up spinning the face making it appear there is pressure present.

I have a full set of these. This 22mm worked perfect:

EDIT: Correction - it was my 23mm!

Wanted to follow up with a question - can you give me a pointer to these #105 70duro o-rings? (I'm not sure what the #105 translates to).

Cheers
