I’m about to embark on a prairie dog eradication hunt, and wanted a cheap and easy way to steady my piston driven rifle.
Grabbed some aluminum, a small bungee cord, and the proper sized nut to thread on the end of a telescoping microphone pole. Couple bends, couple holes, and I’ve got myself a crude monopod that allows for the reverse recoil to do its thing!!

Nice! Last night I was thinking of making a monopod very much like what you made there. The key is the deep u-shaped thingy on top. I have a UTG monopod. And as nice as it is, the y that they have up top isn't really deep enough and my guns tend to bottom out on it.

A monopod really needs to have a deep and wide U shape to is so the guns don't bottom out. Yours may be deeper than necessary but its better than being too shallow which really can be a problem.

Thanks for sharing. I didn't think of using a microphone stand.

It might be prudent to cover the metal U on yours to avoid scratching your guns. I wonder what a good material would be? Truck bed liner and neoprene foam?

I’m a Sound Mixer by profession, so I figured I could use a bit of my kit while the movie industry is shut down.

I’ll just paint the mount flat black, as I’m not to worried about keeping the Gamo pristine. Don’t mind if it shows a little abuse from field work.

after messing around with it, the plan is to add another bungee that sits over the piston chamber, and allows the monopod to stay attached, yet swing back towards the stock on cocking. Once that’s figured out, I’ll be updating with pics

Actually, I think my UTG monopod has a camera attachement- if I can find it.

The Y and camera attachment both attach to the pole by a big dovetail.

Surely, there must be a way to attach a deep U like you have.

Great, now I have yet another project to half way finish and then abandon for a non-determinable amount of time so I can get back to the other previously abandoned unfinished projects.
