Gamo Wildcat Whisper dovetail mounts

Recently purchased the Gamo Wildcat Whisper, .177cal. Knowing the scope, that came with the gun, was junk, I purchased a UTG 3-9x40 True Hunter Scope. I also purchased the UTG Picatinny/Weavee Pro Snap-In Adapters. These adapters to not work with this gun, as the dovetail has a radius top instead of flat, and the mounts for the stock scope sit too low.

Are there mounts that work for an 11mm dovetail to Picatinny/Weaver rail that take into account this slight radius?

so the answer is yes but the answer doesn't solve the problem and here is why

everyone will need a different height to the scope because of his or her head position so we can guess but is that help no

it appears that rifle might have a hard kick to it making the mount very secure a major factor

and the part about you will have a box full of rings and thing the longer you stay in this hobby

so you have to take a swing and hope it works

not much help but it is reality and the thing that will fix this problem is when all of the manufactures start to put Weaver-Picatinny mounts on there guns

be aware there is a lot of garbage out there being in they don't sit right on top, square or not centered

The only one I can think of is linked below. It only has two screws to tighten on the rail which would worry me with a Gamo.

You might be able to use on the screws on top to screw a set screw into the gun. One might need to be drilled larger and re-tapped.

I have the same UTG adapters as you and can see why they wouldn't work. But I'm pretty sure a taller dovetail to weaver adapter would have room to clamp onto the the curved rail. I'm pretty sure I tried this on my Gamo at the recommendation in another thread. I'll double check and post back if it worked at what product I have. It will raise your scope over 1/2" so at that point you might try a Dana zero recoil mount.

Gamo also makes their Recoil Reducing Rail but I believe it's dovetail to dovetail so you'd still need new rings.

A couple of more points.

You said your Gamo came with a scope. Do the rings fit your UTG scope?

If you do get the Diana zero recoil product make sure that the built in rings are spaced close enough for your UTG.

Do pay attention to the proper scope height as the other poster mentioned. My Gamo is a different model and has a very low cheek weld position. Even when I'm using the open sights it is too low. By the time I put adapters and rings on I would need a much higher cheek weld.

I just checked and the taller dovetail to picatinny adapter I have does fit my Gamo. It is the shortest one I could find for my P-Rod.

For your Gamo I'd get something with more screws that tighten it to the barrel. Something like this:

Does your Gamo have a threaded hole around where the rear ring would attach?

The above linked rail has a stop screw in the back. Not sure what the thread size is.

Beeman R10 almost got it right. Why not drill and tap the receiver and I choose the bases ? Weaver and Picatinny aren't the only game in town. 3/8 or 11mm dovetails were originally made for low recoiling .22 RF. And most all result in a canted scope. or rifle.

Scouty....

This is a stop screw hole but it's not threaded....if it is it's for about a 5mm stop screw.

Of course. I don't know how I spaced that off. I just took mine apart recently and even posted a question about it. Still forgot.

Speaking of things I forgot, here is a much lower profile dovetail to picatinny adapter.
