Hello everyone, I’m not sure if this question has already been answered as I couldn’t find a direct comparison. I was wondering if a Umarex Notos or a Gamo Urban would make a better first budget PCP air rifle. I would mainly be using it for plinking and small game hunting.

Nothing wrong with that question. I only have experience with the Urban. There are several manufacturers that I just won’t buy anything from so no Notos or Jets for me. The Urban is a very nice, accurate comfortable gun. It’s not a beast so I focused on using 14.3gr pellets around 830fps. The kid I set it up for has slain lots of stuff with it at distances that are way above its pay grade and the quality of pellets being used. It’s impressive for the price. A Notos? It seems to be a novelty gun for guys who already have some good stuff in their safes.

Have both and while the Notos is a super fun plinking gun and maybe a close-quarter pester it can't match the Urban's accuracy imho.

The Urban was my first and served me well. Very accurate, lots of chipmunk kills out to 50 yards, furthest at 80 yards! Should’ve kept it…

I have both. For the same price I would choose the Urban.

The Urban is a rifle (or carbine) and the Notos is a pistol with a buttstock, so I would say the Urban if you want a rifle.

I have a perfectly good Notos that I’m very happy with - but if you guys don’t stop it, I’m gonna have to buy an Urban also! I’m such a pushover.

Just picked up an Urban thanks everyone!
I was super excited to shoot it today and got my scope mounted but then I realized instead of a quick disconnect fitting for my pump, Amazon sent me a magazine to a completely different gun

Well that stinks! I’m looking to get one now - did you receive fill probe with rifle?
I’ve read several reviews where they didn’t. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you purchase your Gamo?

I did receive the fill probe! I ended up getting it off Amazon because I was impatient and the other stores were out of stock. Of course the next day Airgun Depot got some limited stock in and it would have been about $10 cheaper too. ($30 cheaper with a first time customer coupon.)

Just ordered a new Vector Veyron compact 6-24x44 today also. Should be a perfect fit for the Gamo.
