Just recently purchased the magnum g2 .22 from gamo. Most of the reviews I've read have mentioned a scope upgrade, for various reasons. I've also read that this rifle is particularly rough on the scope and also the mount. I was wondering if anyone could lead me in the right direction, in choosing another scope and mount.

Utg for cheap scopes that are built tough but glass is not as good as higher end scopes. The one that I recommend for springers is the swfa ss in whatever magnification you desire. I would pick 6x. Also I've had great luck with hawke.if I had a choice between hawke vantage or utg I would go with the hawk. They have a 2x7 vantage that rocks for springers but on a side note about hawke I'm not sure they are rated for springers. I have used them and had success but your milage may vary. They have a warranty if it breaks tho. Centerpoint will also hold together but in my opinion they have less clear glass than utg. One other point I'd make is that Gamo will send you a new scope during the life of the rifle. So use your scope until it breaks if you want. Goodluck.

Recommend to install a bullseye mount. Check Aliexpress and don't forget the picatinny-weaver adapter. 15-20 bucks should cover the combo. Pretty formidable shooter, good luck!

For what it's worth, I have several Gamo break barrel air rifles and a Ruger impact max that are hard hitting .22 cal. nitro piston guns, my son has a couple of Gamo super X rifles in .177 and .22 cal. and a Beeman springer, on those guns we are running 2 Hawk advantage 2x7x32 AO scopes, 2 UTG Hunter 3x9x40 AO scopes, and I have a 3x9x32 AO UTG Bug Buster on the Ruger Impact which is a heavy recoiling rifle, all of those scopes have been holding up extremely well, and all are priced under $150.00.
As far as clarity goes both are pretty good with the Hawk scopes edging past the UTG scopes just a little, when it comes to durability under long term recoil I'd probably go with UTG, and UTG has a no questions asked I don't care what broke it Guarantee, Hawk is a bit less forgiving, but that said none of our Hawks or UTG scopes have given us any trouble.

I bought this* scope to replace the stock one on my gamo .22 gen2 magnum and it didn't last 200 rounds.

Since I only have 25-yards for 99% of my shooting, I just said screw it and left it off. Now it's my almost daily shooter.

After a Hatsan Gas Piston Under-lever broke all my scopes. I went with a Hawke ( AirMax ) AirMax is magnum spring rated model of scope and then BKL double strap rings. I really like my 2-7 x 32 AirMax. It's just the right size for airguns and I really like the reticle. My maximum range is 68 to 70 yds and and the scope has proven to be very effective.
