Gamo GX40 and Gamo Coyote questions?

The Coyote is basically the same as a BSA Buccaneer with a different stock. I've never heard of a GX40 but I assume it is the UK name for the Gamo Urban. The Coyote is a bit heavier and a little more powerful than the Urban. They all are very accurate but have limited effective shot count. About 30-35 for the Coyote and 20-30 for the Urban If you are looking at a 12 FP version, the shot count will be much better.

Came across this old post. In short, those Gamos are amazingly well built PCPs. Their low price belies their quality. Very nice bluing as well. BSA cold hammered barrels, some of the best in terms of accuracy -- on par with Lothar Walther. Mags work flawlessly. Forget about finding all that anywhere else in this price range.

In terms of stock, the coyote is made out of beech, a hard wood (contrary to walnut, maple etc). Not at all easy to nick. Very well cut, nice design and stipling, nice comb & cheek weld too. Some (like me) find the stock a bit meaty, certainly compared to the well balanced Urban / GX40 / Phox/ Chacal pistol grip in black polymer. But I will take it any day over the lighter & flimsy paper thin wood you often see.

Finally, there are many misunderstandings in the fora about the triggers. The reality is that they are two-stage and easily adjustable to a light second stage. Simply replace a small set screw in the trigger unit by the longer one from the barrel band.
