New to the forum. Howdy all. Been shooting Springer's for years and thoroughly enjoy the challenge of shooting them accurately. Shooting a Benjamin Genesis. 22 right now and have taken many a squirrels crows and rabbits with it. Still shoots very accurate but just don't seem to have the power it once had. Looking at purchasing the Gamo Gen 2 Swarm Magnum .22 when it comes out. Does anyone have any good bad or ugly on it? Or is there another multi shot I should be considering for about the same money. Any knowledgeable help would be appreciated.

Why don't you warranty your gun through Crosman? They have excellent warranty and if yours is already past its time then you could just easily replace that gas piston yourself by ordering a replacement from Crosman (if your gun is already outside of warranty). Save you some money in these hard times!

Squirrels, crows and rabbits don't require much every to kill them unless you think your gun has lost half its original powar and the lower power may aid in more humane kills believe it or not rather than complete pass throughs. Cocking effort should be less too if that gas piston leaked. Otherwise it may be something minor such as a simple breech o-ring needing a quick and easy replacement or revitalization. If it's squashed you may be able to defibulate it back by using Alphabet org Trans quick fix stop leak and make it swell back to normal. Soak it for a day then flip around and reinstall and go shoot it. Otherwise you can order an OEM replacement from Crosman or go to ACE and match it up and buy several.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the prices on the gas piston. Definitely down on power. Cocking effort greatly reduced. Not getting humane kills is the main reason for wanting replacement. Also, I like the ideal of the 10 shot magazine offered by the Swarm Magnum.

It takes a lot more discipline to shoot a Gamo Springer accurately than a Crosman Benjamin.

Um... Benjamin break barrels easier to shoot then gamo? What models are you shooting Yo? Going to respectfully disagree on that one from my personal experiences and research. I’m sure you fired WAY more then I have but I’ve never even seen or heard of a Benji breakbarrel that shoots anything but horrible. I’ve also spent many hours on various forums and encounter more posts regarding people with accurate gamos by a long shot. Meanwhile I’ve had 3 gamos (more when younger and less educated on accuracy) all have made some really good groups.
Having said that, I say why not go for the Gen2! It’s magazine is supposedly spot on and you can always tinker with it to get it shooting smoother or more accurate.

I have no issues with accuracy, 20 yard 6 shot quarter size groups all day long if I do my part. I tried to post a target image but it wouldn't upload. My problem is it's down on power. Cocking effort is falling off also. Love the air rifle for what it is, totally satisfied with its original power and accuracy. Time to replace and interested in the multiple shots.

That’s pretty good for 20 yards with that gun imo. I’m pretty impressed. What pellets are you using?

That was the last group sighting in the RWS field line super point 14.5 grain. I use the Center Point 3x9x32 scope. The Crossman Premier Ultra Magnums 14.3 shoot about the same group.

Using the Alphabet org on the breech o-ring was suggested by Why. Mine is getting flat but still has enough roundness to it that it seals. Also, I think on anything else I get I'll be leaving the breech open when i put it in the gun safe. That would extend the life of the o-ring considerably I would think.

My first post here. I just got the Swarm Magnum .22. I like the sound and the power, but it requires a bear to cock! Might be better to consider the Fusion. A slightly less powerful piston, but pretty accurate out to 40 yards if you sight it well. The Magnum cocking force is around 50 lbs, but the Fusion is about 30 lbs, so a lot more pleasant to take on a hunt. I'm thinking that if you want to shoot squirrels and such, the Fusion is the better choice. If you want to shoot something larger, moving up to a PCP would be worth the expense. JMHO.

Yes, I have the Gen2. The magazine and loader are pretty cool, and you can't double load the barrel with Gen2 which is great! My problem is cocking the rifle, which is why I suggest considering the Fusion. I bought the Magnum for the range of a higher powered piston, but am learning that for 50 yards and small critters, the lower power of the Fusion might be preferable. So, my Ugly is the cocking force required. I've watched the videos of the guys breaking the barrels on their Magnums with ease, but my neighbor and I had extreme difficulty cocking my new gun. Reviews have rated the force needed at 45 lbs, but we estimated this gun at nearly 60 pounds. I am not a bear. I have contacted Gamo but haven't heard back yet.
How far do you hunt? If 50 yards or less, you may prefer the Fusion. If you hunt and shoot frquently (requiring recocking) you might consider the Fusion. Almost all of the videos I watched from experienced hunters said they had shoulder soreness after pumping the Magnum during the day. And they must have been Bears. haha. JMHO

How’s the 30 yard group size with the magnum gen 2? Pellet fussy? What scope are you using?

Yea, almost all my shots when hunting are inside 50 yards. I watched some videos on the Magnum and like you said, they make the cocking effort look normal. I'll take a look at the Fusion. Thanks for the info on the Magnum. There not available around here yet but say they will be sometime in August.
