I was out target shooting and noticed nothing out of the ordinary, but when I cocked the break barrel it would only cock half way. Less than 90 degrees down. The barrel stops on a solid object (metal?). I don't heard anything loose inside of the barrel. Has anyone experience this issue before?

Does it still fully cock and fire?Has the arm which pushes the piston back slipped or moved so as to change the contact point to cause a shorter stroke.Hope I'm making sense.Maybe remove the stock and have a look. Does the connecting arm from the barrel to the piston still fold at the "elbow"?More theories to come when I think of them.

No, it doesn't fully cock. I can cock the barrel only half way of its full throw until it stops on what seems to be metal. So, there's no give once the barrel stops. Nothing that I can see is bent, slipped of moved, and the hinge from the barrel to the piston hasn't been compromised. Whatever is stopping the barrel from fully cocking seems to be inside of the gun. I searched the web and couldn't find anyone who experienced this problem.

Sounds like maybe the gas ram is broke and that is why it won't cock. I believe your gun has a gas ram and not a spring?

I believe it has a gas ram. I bought this rifle 3 months ago and shot about 150 rounds. Thought it would last a lot longer than this.

I have never broke a spring or gas ram, but have read of it happening on guns in less than 500 shots and I seem to remember the inability to cock the gun was a sign of broken internals.

I knew I wasn't going to write what I wanted to say,but I think you answered my question.The gun no longer shoots.Like the other posts I would think the gas ram is the issue. Sounds like grounds for a warranty being only 3 months out of the box.Let us know how it turns out.

I have a BWE and it is not a gas ram unit. It is actually a springer break barrel. If it is not the metal cocking arms, it probably will need a new spring.

I had a gamo big cat 1200
did the same thing .. Tuned out that the spring guide (made of polymer ) broke off and jams up on the coils about half way up not allowing the other half of the spring to compress
this seems likely
if you open up your gun the warrantee will void so I'd just get a new one
honestly if you want a better and quieter gun that's more accurate with a better bundled scope id get refunded and buy the Benjamin np2
much better gun in most respects
I have the trail xl it's tough to shoot the np2 is the choice I wish I had made for $279 bucks
