FX zero in, Thanks for all of the help!

I bought a synrod in May and 6 shots out of the box and it was ready to go. Its been dead on ever since and its a very accurate .22. Yes, I said .22 ! I purchased an FX verminator .25 and had very high expectations. Its randomly all over the place. At 25 yards, that's as far as I've gotten, it shoots 3" groups. I thought maybe its the scope, because these FX's are supposed to be accurate and the videos of shooting the numbers off a target are impressive. So I changed the scope to one that's proven and got the same results. I'm shooting JSB exacts. I feel like I'm back to the springer days. I guess since the marauder is so incredible I thought this FX would be a dream. So maybe the pellet hunt is on next to see if something else works in it. My marauder has been fed three different pellets and doesn't mind the change at all. Go figure. I'm thinking did I get the Best marauder .22 ever and a rare inaccurate FX?? Wouldn't that be funny. Not really since I could have a marauder in every caliber for the cost. Chime in and help a brother out. Give me some suggestions on what I can try. Is the pellet type the most important issue or has anyone else experienced other miracle fixes.

Sorry to hear that. Not directly relevant, but I have a Boss .30, and its a tack driver out to 50, and I've no opportunity to shoot longer, but trust it will hold up to +70n yds. 3" groups means somethings wrong, and its not your fault. This gun should be way better than that. JSBs are the go to pellet for high end PCPs, but any pellet should be shooting much better than 3" groups at 25 yds. Contact the seller, and ask them to fix the problem; you have a great gun, and it should perform accordingly.

I completely agree there is something seriously wrong and you should contact the seller and try and get a replacement.

The first thing I would try is removing the shroud. This will tell you if the the pellets are clipping. A shroud can often become loose or misaligned over time and/or in transit.

Also give the barrel a good cleaning. Then try to visually inspect the barrel. If you don't want to remove it, simply shine a light in the breach and look down the muzzle (please make sure it is not loaded and decocked).

Some chrony number would also help.

It is a used gun, so I doubt I'll get much help from dealers or manufacturer. It was said to be extremely accurate, but as some one new to this sport (since May 2015) and experience with only one other pcp gun, I assume it is operator error and that the individual selling was truthful. I shot from a bench rest with the gun in a soft vise system so it must be mechanical in the gun. I will do everything listed by the group and see if there is a change. Hopefully there will be success, because that's a healthy sum to eat. and not easily swallowed.

I have begun the process of disassembly to evaluate. The smooth twist barrel is extremely clean and shiny in the smooth portion, but could use some cleaning at the choked twist area. It does have a shroud and a FX modular moderator that extends the length. There is some residue accumulation on each port that the pellet passes through on each module of the moderator, but since they disassemble I should be able to clean them. I did notice that the end of the barrel where it is twisted/choked has a very faint pentagon shape that coincides with the rifling. If that's abnormal let me know. I'll clean and fire with only the barrel this evening. Thanks again for your input.

I bought a Bobcat Mk2 .25 in March and could never get it go group consistently. At 30 yards it would shoot a tight little 2-4 shot group here, then all of a sudden the POI would move 1" over there, then 1" or so down there, then start scattering, so on and so on..... Tried 3 different scopes, cleaned the barrel, checked for clipping, tried different combos of bipods, bags and tables with no results. After 3 months I still was not able to get it sighted in. Needless to say, I was EXTREMELY frustrated and wondering if I was the problem. I sent it back to the importer, (you can guess who) and they thought it was a walking barrel (I guess sometimes you just get a bad barrel) and re-barreled it. Fortunately for me, it was under warranty and did not cost me the $335.00 for the new barrel and labor. I just got it back last week and its a whole different gun. Was finally able to sight it in, sub 1/4" groups an 30 yds and MOA at 100yds. Also easily nailed pop cans out at 150 and 175yds.

Unfortunately, since you bought it used, its probably out of warranty. If it is a bad barrel, I think you can buy them for $220.00, install yourself and save the labor. Even still, it sucks to throw more cash into an already expensive gun. Good luck Plinker.

I had ordered another module for the moderator and it arrived. It is evident, so I'll note, that the previous owner did have all of the holes in the modular moderator widened greater than standard. I would not have known unless I had ordered the .25 middle module. That leads me to believe he may have felt that pellets were clipping. Why else would you widen them right? Cleaning everything this evening and then I'll shoot with the basics and add parts. The last pic shows the slight pentagon shape I mentioned on the barrel end.
